Last month, the NFL and the players' union commenced the process of negotiating a new labor agreement.
Some assumed that this means a deal will be reached by Labor Day.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Liz Mullen of SportsBusiness Journal reports that the second meeting will be held on July 14, more than a month after the June 3 ice-breaker.
Unfortunately, the key point isn't when the process starts -- it's when the two sides believe that it needs to finish.
