Kitna's remarks remain a sore spot for Bradie James

It has been two years since Jon Kitna harshly criticized Dallas Cowboys linebacker Bradie James, but those words apparently haven’t lost their sting.

And James acknowledged this week that he’s still holding a grudge against Kitna even though they’re teammates now.

“[Kitna] just raked me over the coals,” James told ESPN 103.3 in a radio interview, per Tim MacMahon of the Dallas Morning News. “I’ve definitely had visions of emasculating him.”

Here’s why James is mad at Kitna:

In 2007, the Cowboys were coming off a defeat to the Detroit Lions when Kitna told a Seattle radio station, “There were some times that we were watching on film before we played Dallas that we really felt like No. 56 [James], some times I don’t know that he knew where he was at.”

On the surface, that wouldn’t seem to be that bad.  However, James is apparently extremely sensitive.

When the topic was broached to James this week, the linebacker made it clear that it’s not a laughing matter even though Kitna apologized for the remarks the following year.

Plus, Kitna and James have discussed the situation since Kitna joined the Cowboys’ roster.

However, James hasn’t softened his stance much at this point.

“I mean, to be honest with you and I know this is a little inside, but after I got married and said I do, my perspective changed on a couple of things,” James said.  “So, I talked to him.  That’s pretty much it. . . .

“Just, we talked about it, move on.  Hopefully, if he starts mouthing off . . .  hopefully he doesn’t do that again, because as a quarterback, I don’t know how you could do that.”

Just in case Kitna and Mrs. Kitna are concerned about James going after Kitna’s, er, equipment, James said that he’s not planning any sneak attacks/cheap shots on Tony Romo’s backup.

At least for now, peace can reign in Valley Ranch, even if James is inclined to hold on to a fairly innocuous comment for far too long.

James sounds like someone who doesn’t know what is going on around him.

I hate Jon Kitna so much. I wish he wasn’t a Cowboy.

what a effin triangle James is; does he get to wear a skirt on the field too?

To be fair, I said the same thing. James has improved but I’m still not sold on him.

You mean Kitna wasn’t ALREADY emasculated?
I thought that was a REQUIREMENT to play for the Kitties…
    And poor James!
First T.O. cries for his QB, then Ware tries to give up his starting spot to Ellis, and now this…
Maybe they’re overdoing it a bit with the sensitivity training down there in Dallas?

fast forwarding to the playoffs…once again the dallas cowboys have failed to win a playoff game since 1996…the most overrated team in football, screw the cowgirls and the vox veritas they rode in on

    They should hug it out.

What a douche. It was two years ago, it wasn’t that bad, the guy apologized, and he’s now your teammate. Looks like James is auditioning to be this year’s locker room a**hole now that TO is gone.

  9. empty13 says: Jul 10, 2009 1:21 PM

james is more experienced now. he should let water roll off the duck’s back.

  10. SaintsBucsPanthersSUKK says: Jul 10, 2009 1:26 PM

The best way to emasculate Jon Kitna is for Bradie to get him from behind, pull them down, force him to bend over and……………………………………………..

  11. Ivan Jackanov says: Jul 10, 2009 1:33 PM

I guess the truth really does hurt. Hey Bradie, guess what, you arent all that good when you know what the game plan is, so you should just pretend Kitna was correct, and that the reason you suck is that you were confused. Now everyone knows you werent confused, and that you actually do suck

Dude, 56, let it go! I think Kitna’s career has more than put him in check for that comment and other stuff. Karma took care of it more than you unhealthy, borderline mentally deficient, grudge ever could have.

  13. Big Stretch says: Jul 10, 2009 1:34 PM

Kitna is still in the NFL?

  14. AlanSaysYo says: Jul 10, 2009 1:48 PM

What a woman. If you get beat by the Lions, you damn sure don’t know where you’re at.

  15. RestorThaRoar says: Jul 10, 2009 1:50 PM

As a Lion’s fan, I too am holding a grudge much like Bradie. I was promised 10 wins in 2007, what ever happened to that Jonny Boy?

  16. Cnote182 says: Jul 10, 2009 1:55 PM

2 things… first Bradie is obviously gay because his first name is Bradie. Second, if he were a better football player, people would not notice that he was completely lost in coverage because he probably wouldn’t be lost. It is the quarterback’s responsibility to identify the other teams’ defensive retards and pick on them. Kudos to Kitna for having the courage to let everyone else know how stupid James is.

James needs to stop being a pu$$y!! he should take that as a means of motivation to help him get better in his game.
What the hell is it with dudes with the James surname this week?? whole lot of bitchassness!!!!

  18. Razon says: Jul 10, 2009 2:08 PM

Wow…the comments by Kitna were not harsh…and James sounds like a big baby. Get over it. Is this the common attitude in the Cowboy’s locker room? If so, no wonder they can’t win a playoff game.

“I’ve definitely had visions of emasculating him.”
I would throw out a “That’s what she said”, but it seems pretty harsh to have vision of someone’s genitals being removed….

  20. theskinnypost says: Jul 10, 2009 2:43 PM

I know where he was on the field: getting lifted a foot and a half off the ground by Lorenzo Neal on Le’ron McClain’s 82 yard TD run. Now that was emasculating!

What’s it like being a fan of one of the perennially worst teams in the NFL, 49er fan?

“What’s it like being a fan of one of the perennially worst teams in the NFL, 49er fan?”
The Cowboys have just as much hardware in the past decade as the 49ers to be honest. The 49ers just don’t get their fans hopes up only to be dashed by terrible QB play and awful post season coaching. I’ll take Mike Singletary over Wade Phillips any day.

  23. empty13 says: Jul 10, 2009 3:37 PM

detroit beat dallas when they were 3-13. and barely lost to dallas when they were 7-9. the martz offense matched up pretty well against dallas. especially when they ran out of it. wader probly should have pulled lost little bradie.

  24. locustsofdeath says: Jul 10, 2009 3:55 PM

The Cowboys’ locker room isn’t dysfunctional. I don’t care what anyone says.

  25. empty13 says: Jul 10, 2009 4:07 PM

and… since kitna pretty much called it… he wasnt “mouthing off”. james needs his binky.

  26. purpleguy says: Jul 10, 2009 4:14 PM

Geez, take a tissue out of your purse and wipe away the tears Bradie. What Kitna said was probably the truth and he shouldn’t have to apologize. I wonder what this wuss does when he has real problems.

  27. VoxVeritas says: Jul 10, 2009 6:18 PM

“The Cowboys have just as much hardware in the past decade as the 49ers to be honest.”
The Cowboys have won a Super Bowl since the 49ers won their last one, to be honest. And don’t forget that the 49ers are on a six season losing streak.
“The 49ers just don’t get their fans hopes up only to be dashed by terrible QB play and awful post season coaching.”
Right, because they haven’t played in the post-season since 2002. Three coaches ago. In spite of being in one of the worst divisions in the NFL.
“I’ll take Mike Singletary over Wade Phillips any day. ”
Then you’d be a loser, too. Or maybe you just like his ass?

  28. empty13 says: Jul 10, 2009 7:02 PM

    niners in december 3-1. surging…
cowboys in december 1-3. stalling out…
both those superbowls were over 10 years ago, yet were one year apart. not significant enough to brag about.
and to be fair, after the 02 season the niners DID play in 2 postseason games. also after 96/97/98…
dallas hasnt played 2 postseason games in one year since the aftermath of the 96 season.

Kudos to Vox on the following pointsL
“To be fair, I said the same thing. James has improved but I’m still not sold on him”
-never heard you not unconditionaly support an active member of the Cowboys.
“Or maybe you just like his ass?”
    -That was funny

That same interview, Kitna said T-New was lame and other Cowboys suck. Kitna was/is immature despite his very public, Christian prayer sessions he holds on the field after games. I think he means well but never quite grew up.
