Bucs bounce Brian Griese

Buried at the bottom of the release announcing the signing of rookie defensive tackle Roy Miller to his first NFL contract appears a simple, one-sentence update regarding the status of a veteran signal-called whom the Bucs apparently were keeping around in the event of a swine flu-style rash of ruptured ACLs.

"The team also announced that QB Brian Griese has been released," the statement announcing the release says.

We'd heard that Griese had been lining up post-football employment possibilities, a rumor that a source close to Griese denied -- possibly to avoid a Jake Plummer/Keenan McCardell attack against Griese's signing bonus.

Griese was under contract for two more seasons.  As a vested veteran, he immediately becomes an unrestricted free agent.

He entered the league in 1998 as a third-round pick of the Broncos.  His up-and-down career has taken him to Miami, Tampa, Chicago, and Tampa.

Griese has a career passer rating of 82.7, and he has passed for 19,440 yards in eleven NFL seasons.

I have a blue, fleece blanket that I lie under while viewing my beloved Denver Broncos on those chilly autumn Sundays.
I named this blanket "Blue N. Fleecy" in honor of the weak armed QB.
It's this type of electric wit that has won me many a heart of jaded, frigid ladies.

It has been said that he plays well enough to get his coach fired. Who will be Greise's next victim?

What "ups" has Brian Griese had in his career?

Would anybody be surprised if Danny Snyder and Vinny Cerrato made an attempt to get him to replace JC17?

Well Brian Griese's career has sunk so low that he will have to place that call to the vikings who are so desperate for a QB.

Time to swallow your pride Brian and have your agent make the call.

It is too late for the CFL as their season is underway.

The UFL is not a good option.

To answer "what "ups" has he had?

    a) He had a helluva rookie year in Denver.
    b) His first pass as a Miami Dolphin, his dad's old team, was a touchdown.

BG seems to be a quiet, nice guy. I wish him the best.

He sucks and i still think he is better than a lot of qb's in the league right now.

I guess you wouldn't say an "UP" was him tripping over his dog in Denver because it caused him to fall "DOWN" the stairs.....

As a life long Bucs fan good bye. Your realistically better than Luke mckown and probably as good as Byron Leftwitch but hey man your over thirty and its time for you and your 1 million dollar contract to go where do you think this is Washington we cant afford losers here.... we cant apparently afford winners either.. go somewhere they will pay you to hold a clipboard. we've got 2 already..

Greise would be a good fit in San Francisco.... Singletary would get the most out of him and they have a good running game.
