McNabb plans to play past current contract

NFL_McNabbfrown.jpgEver since Donovan McNabb signed up for his recent pay raise, he's talked about focusing on the coming two-year window.

That doesn't mean McNabb plans to retire after his current deal is up.

"I've always said that I would like to retire here, but that's not going to be in two years," McNabb said.  "My main focus, as well as coach's, is to focus on what we have to do in these next two years.  And we feel like, with the guys we have in this locker room, we can get the job done."

Talk like this and McNabb's contract terms create the feeling that the McNabb/Reid era is gearing up for one final championship push together.  McNabb will be 35 when his deal is up.

The Eagles have done their best to keep McNabb happy, adding offensive pieces at wide receiver (Jeremy Maclin), running back (LeSean McCoy), and tackle (Jason Peters, Stacy Andrews).

McNabb sounds optimistic about the team and appears to welcome the pressure of being one of the favorites in a wide open NFC.

"You know, when you get so close six times -- one time to be in the Super Bowl -- you feel like it's going to happen," McNabb said.  "When is it going to happen? Well, hopefully in these next two years."

One thing you can always count on McNabb for:

He will always play his worst when his best is called for and needed.

Just stay out of hotel romms with 20 year old strippers and it might happen.

    Dear Gregg,

Donovan McNabb said that the day his contract was restructured on 6/11/09. That's OVER a month ago. It was reported on NFLN, ESPN, and probably on CNN, CBS, FOX, and oh hell -- probably even C-SPAN.

Your timely reporting is always appreciated.

    Your friend,
    Justin.

McNabb should just ask Jim Kelly what it feels like to be close to Ring. Nothing is ever guarenteed on the NFL.

With Mcnabb at the controls - with the pressure on and a crucial, pivitol play has to be made by him.....I think he's a choke artist. He does have some good skills but when the chips are down I don't want McNabb steering the ship. Sign him up long term Eagles and you'll be second place forever - just you always have been

They will win the Super Bowl with McNabb at rh helm. How can you question his toughness, he threw for over 300 yards and 3 TD'S against the Cardinals just 3 years ago. Eagle are 3rd in wins this decade. He will win his Super Bowl and once retired, he will be enshrined in Canton.
