Vikings' single-game tickets apparently available

We previously believed that the Vikings would announce the arrival of quarterback Brett Favre in the days preceding the availability of single-game tickets for the 2009 season.  Our thinking in this regard was largely influenced by the fact that the Vikings had trouble selling out some of their games last season -- and they needed multiple extensions in order to lift the blackout for their first home postseason game in eight years.

It now appears that, if/when Favre joins the Vikings, the move won't be made in conjunction with the sale date of the single-game tickets on July 20, the date the Vikings identified for our own Tom Curran earlier this month.

We've reasoned that, with so many signs pointing to Favre joining the team and the Vikings not saying or doing anything to debunk the connection, the tickets will sell come July 20.

Apparently, they're available even before then.

Per Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, tickets for several Vikings homes games already can be purchased through Ticketmaster, including the November 15 game against Detroit, the November 22 game against Seattle, the December 13 game against Cincinnati, and the January 3 game against the New York Giants.

So if you want to see Brett Favre wearing a purple helmet and a purple jersey, you can buy tickets for several of the home games now.

Good luck getting a refund if Favre ends up staying in Minneapolis and growing out his Santa Claus beard.

In other words, you were wrong -- several times over.

    Wow Rasalas..
You were the FIRST one to jump on and comment and you got in a great "gotcha" to Florio. How clever!

Geeze, get over yourself will you? I don't get the people who spend their entire lives just hanging out on this board trying to get in the best snarky comment. I wish Florio wouldn't even HAVE comments available for this Board.

Still can't believe the Vikings can't sell out games, even home playoff games. They keep their sellout streak alive through multiple extensions until the local broadcast station buys out the remaining tickets to avoid getting screwed. Great 'fans'.

Tickets for vikings games are always available.

Only once last season was the stadium filled to capacity except the Packer game.

Only 61,000 showed for their first playoff game in many years. That included thousands of Eagle fans.

I wish I could easily travel to Minni to see a home Viking Game...

That is false. Every home game sells out still, but it often doesn't happen till one or two days before game day, when a company buys a lot of tickets to give to their employees.

Maybe Vikings fans don't go to games because they're disgusted with the team, and I wouldn't blame them.

People didn't buy playoff tickets immediately, because they had a lot time. People are naturally lazy, and it took the Cards even longer to sell out their home playoff game, despite the fact that it was their first in even more years. On top of all that, that playoff game was LOUD. Vikings' fans were very loud and proud that day, despite the loss.

As of 2:30 AM CST single game tickets for any Vikings home game are no longer for sale on Ticketmaster.com. Looks like a glitch in the system that allowed a few games to suddenly go on sale early.

Only a Queens "fan" would call a corporate ticket buyup a sellout.

The fact is, real fans call a sellout when the FANS buy the tickets the way they do in Green Bay. Real FANS see sellouts as a gauge of a team's popularity.

When the Queens played at the Met I saw every playoff game because the Minnesota "fans" have made it easy.

The Metrodump has to be the worse stadium in the NFL. In that respect, it is hard to fault the fans for not wanting to part with their hard earned money to sit in a glorified toilet bowl.

Then add to that the collection of low-lifes, criminals and dumb asses that populate the team and you have even more reasons to avoid buying a ticket.

Top if off with a swarmy pseudo intellectual head coach who, when he talks to the camera, is the equivalent of hearing fingernails across a blackboard and then you can see why the Vikings can’t sell tickets. Hell, even the owner can barely stand it flying in for just 8 weekends a year. Rumor has it, he prefers the sunny beaches of Southern California.

False!!!! TICKETS ARE NOT FOR SALE!!!

Thanks again to all the Packer fans who feel so inadequate with their own team, they continue to post in the Vikings threads.

rasalas....nail.....head....not sure why TrueFan has a problem with you pointing out that florio's info...err...guesses are consistently wrong. Maybe it's hard for him to focus with Mikey's nutts constantly dangling around his chin.

i agree the humpty dump is probably the worst stadium. i have had season tickets since 1997 and would still not give, trade, or sell them away. though its one of the loudest stadiums in the nfl and it causes many of false starts and delay of games. if we dont get a new stadium soon vikes are gone.

    Queens. Dohohohoho you're so clever.

A corporation buying remaining tickets is still a sellout, no matter which way you twist it.

And I'm calling bullshit on you seeing "every playoff game at the Met". You insult the entire fanbase yet claim you've gone to every playoff game at a stadium that hasn't been open since the early 80s? Are you that old? If you were, you sure as hell wouldn't be using such an overused and honestly not even clever name like "Queens".

If you've seen EVERY playoff game at the Met, than I can lie through the Internet too! I met Fran Tarkenton in 1969. And he said he hates all Vikings fans except for me because I'm me. Me me me me me me. God you're smug.

    Florio writes "We previously believed..."

It's hard to do, but take a deep breath and say "I was wrong". However, it is not necessary to hide behind the use of the royal "We" in this error.

You're right on with everything except your second point...the Vikings haven't really been like that since the majority of the guys who were involved in the Love Boat were still here. The only real thug on the team is Bryant McKinnie, and he's good enough that it really doesn't matter.

Childress is the biggest reason the Vikings are being stopped from real success. He's an arrogant, predictable coach who can't get anything done.

I can't wait until next year when Giants and Jets games are blacked out because of the ridiculous PSLs. Especially considering the HUGE population base the NY teams have to draw from.

If you look at the fact that the Vikings sell 60,000 tickets to a population base of around 3 to 4 million people, and NY has about 5 times that and an only 20,000 more seats - I think they are doing quite well.

Any word on how the Dallas intends to fill it's stadium for every game this year?

    How about Jacksonville? Larger tarp?

Why is it, in this economy, that there is such an outcry if a team does not sell out a game?

haha, florio you have quite an ego. it's cool, sometimes people are wrong. it's only annoying when you try to backtrack and reverse position constantly while playing cover-up on your grossly inadequate guesses.
