Former Viking in trouble with the law

Former Vikings receiver Hassan Jones, who wore No. 84 in the Metrodome long before Randy Moss arrived on the scene, has something else in common with Mr. Moss.

Jones is on the wrong side of the law.

He faces charges of aggravated assault and felony battery after threatening to do the “Hassan chop” on his wife and adult daughter with a Big Bertha (product placement!) golf club.

Classy.

He also is charged with dragging his daughter on concrete, grabbing her by the throat, and sitting on her.

Extra classy.

Jones spent seven years with the Vikings (1986-92) and one with the Chiefs (1993).

It’s not his first run-in with the law.  He pleaded no contest to a charge of domestic battery in 1996, and he was charged with drunk driving in 2006.

  1. Kids these days. You can’t live with ’em, you can’t drag them on the concrete. Who knew?

  2. Another former viking loser in Florida….armed himself with a Callaway Big Bertha driver and started swinging it at his daughter and wife.
He is also accused of grabbing his daughter,
then pulling her out of her vehicle, and dragging her across some concrete while she was on her knees, the affidavits say. Jones then sat on top of her and held her by her throat until his wife knocked him off.
He just wouldn’t take no for an answer.

  3. The only Big Bertha driver that Callaway still makes is the Diablo, which translates to “Devil.” Good choice, Hassan…

  4. Does Moss get tossed into the loser pool with this guy by virtue of his uniform number, or because he also beats the shit out of his kids? I’m no fan of the Minny Mooner by any means, but that’s a weak link, at best.

  5. Sounds like he might want to call up Bryant McKinnie and get the number of his lawyer and his wife might want to pick up a Taylor Made hybrid for protection.

  6. He sounds like a really classy guy, maybe the Vikings should hire him in their PR dept. Or he could pick up some extra money driving the love boat or picking up the hookers at the airport. Just stay away from the men’s bathroom where the Viking fans are tapping their feet.

  7. as big as a hat is right.
What a BS tie in. The level that Moss was on the wrong side of the law isn’t even really mentionable compared to a) this story b) all the other thug behavior around the league.

  8. The Hassan Chop line made me laugh out loud. Easily the most obscure reference I’ve read in a long, long, time. If it went by you, you’ve got to watch more Looney Toons!
