Supplemental draft to be held today

The annual NFL supplemental draft will occur today, and the thing is generally creating little buzz.

The lack of any big-name players has kept the process from attracting much attention. The guy generating the most attention is former Kentucky defensive end Jeremy Jarmon.

As explained by our friends at Sporting News Today, the session is conducted by e-mail, with each team submitting a list of the players they are willing to take, and in which round. Priority typically is determined by the order from the most recent draft.

Any team that takes a player in the supplemental draft forfeits the pick in that same round for the 2010 process.

Eight players are eligible this year: Jarmon, Western Kentucky linebacker Blake Boyd, Southern Mississippi receiver Torris Magee, Texas Tech defensive end Dixon McKinner McKinner Dixon, Central Michigan guard Joe McMahon, Tennessee safety Demetrice Morley, Kansas State receiver Deon Murphy, and Florida State receiver Corey Surrency.
