Anderson will be ready for camp

nfl_anderson1.jpgDerek Anderson will be ready to compete for the Browns starting quarterback job on day one of training camp.

The 2007 Pro Bowler suffered a calf injury during Cleveland's final minicamp, but the injury was never believed to be serious.  Now there is confirmation the injury is no longer an issue

Anderson's calf is healthy enough, in fact, to participate in this weekend's celebrity golf tournment in Lake Tahoe.  (Anderson has shown up for every meeting on time.)

Brady Quinn looks like the favorite to start in Week One, but Eric Mangini has said publicly its a dead heat heading into camp.

Anderson is due $9.45 million in 2010, so he will need a sensational comeback season to extend his time with the Browns.

He is so far removed from his lucky 2007 season it doesn't matter. Give the job to BQ.

I was convinced Anderson was a joke when he threw a screen pass-pick6 to T-Sizzle when he was supposed to be leading his team on a game deciding drive, early last season

Why the hell is is taking so long for comment ratings to resurface???..........Christ, it's NBC, not like atom splitting is involved...

As long as Derek Anderson is even being mentioned as a possilbe first-string QB, the Browns have no QBs.

Quinn won't be the answer, either.

Any word if former NFL standouts Richard Dent, Jonathan Ogden, and Marcus Allen and Charles Barkley were on the stage and they spotted Browns quarterback Derek Anderson in the crowd, and urged him to join them and then when he didn't, Dent and Allen instructed the lounge singer to belt out "The Mighty Quinn" in honor of Anderson's starting QB competition with Brady Quinn?

That would be a good one if they did! LOL!

Hedley Lamarr, Having no QB goes well with having no coach.

Wow! Lots of Browns haters on the board. You should really spend some time on the Squeelers sites if you have so much hate in your house.

BQ will likely be starter, too much invested. DA is up and down but is awesome when up. A shame he will only be a journeyman in this league, has all the tools as Flacco just not the smarts.

Who's the dumba$$ who has to use the Son of God's name in vain? Typical ignoramuses.

Heh. You said "Squeelers"....and the Browns coach is Eric Mangina.

    That's funny to me.

He better be ready. Looking at his 07 season it becomes more and more evident that he benefited from a weak schedule. Not sure BQ will be much better, but he's the favorite and Anderson will have to be lights out for that to change. Perhaps he can get lucky and play well enough to get traded.

Anderson showed everyone the choker that he is in that huge game vs. pitiful Cincinnati 2 years ago when a win would have put the Browns in the playoffs. But he kept throwing to the wrong team.

If Derek Anderson grows a brain, he could be something special.

At least my 49ers doesn't have the worst QB's in the league...

Florio! Now bring back the e-mail notification service of following comments so i don't miss any of the Browns fans coming back to bash me. You said things would be better at NBC...as far as the comments section goes I'm dissapointed. Other than that i love the new site..keep it up!
