Per Bell, Vick's high school football coach, Tommy Reamon, has been helping Vick get ready to play again. Vick has been improving his condition with agility drills. He also has been throwing footballs in his backyard, but no farther than 20 or 30 yards.
Vick undoubtedly will request reinstatement from the league as soon as his sentence ends. It remains to be seen whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expedites the matter, given that training camps soon will be opening.
It also remains to be seen whether any teams pursue Vick. But with public opinion not lining up against Vick as aggressively as we believed it would, our guess is that there will be some behind-the-scenes activity before he is reinstated -- and possibly a full-blown land rush once Goodell gives Vick the green light.
I thought no one was allowed at the house with Vick but his fiance and the kids. Also, he is only allowed to leave for work. So, how is he working out with his high school football coach?
Apparently he's ahead of Favre in his conditioning and throwing. He's also planning on playing in the NFL ASAP, which also is ahead of #4's plans.
Maybe if Childress had any clue he'd be pursuing Vick's services, instead. Good luck, Minny, in your aimless wanderings. Maybe once Zygi sells the franchise to LA and they hire a real GM and coach...
20-30 yards? well that's only as far as crumpler could go anyway.
sorry, wideouts! get back under the bus!
The public backlash isn't there, because there's no reason to be 'against' Michael Vick, until there's talk of him joining the local team. I'm sure there will be plenty of local backlash in any NFL city where there's talk about him signing.
Vick isn't a guy who made a mistake and is looking for a chance to redeem himself. Michael Vick is a bad person. It's not so much that he's into dog fighting, as much as 'how' he was into dog fighting. His personal involvement in the brutality and killing of these animals. He's a sick F'er and there's nothing respectable about him. The gambling and interstate commerce..., that was the window dressing that got him busted by the Feds. But it's the disgusting mentality that makes the people want to disassociate themselves w/ him.
It seems pretty obvious (for most) that the HS coach is helping him in the backyard.
Is it possible that Vick could come back an even better QB? I always assumed that the time away from the game and workouts would hamper him. But perhaps this will all provide motivation for Vick to take nothing for granted and to work as hard as possible to put himself in a position where teams would have to take notice and give him a chance. At least, that's what I'd do - granted, I wouldn't have organized a dog-fighting ring in the first place.
Mike Vick, break a leg
Hope you never play again
Wretched piece of trash
20 - 30 yard passes are definitely an area Vick needs to work on. The man has served his time, let him play.
Who cares what the Dog Killer is doing ? I can't imagine that any NFL Team would sink so low and give this POS a job.
To bad Vick didn't find McNair's mistress before him.
It's funny how all of a sudden the tables are turning for this clown. Why does this country and culture have shut a short term memory. A few years ago this clown was the disgrace of the sporting world, now he's looking like he will be some teams hero. What is wrong with us?
hey heinekenfool peopl like you crack me up u want to throw vick under the bus for dog fighting but their probably cock fighting in your back yard or u and your friends are probably going hunting this weekend for deer, squirell,or chickens,ol i forgot you cant eat dog, unless you own a chinese restaurant.thats what pit bulls do they fight other pits, but because vick is who he is now its the worst thing anyone would ever do.vick chose to be a football player not a saint so get over it u dont know the guy to call him a bad person so get your hii jack friends together, and go catch some deer

I guess you didn't see the video of first day he arrived home from jail when his family and friends were over the house. Plus, if you actually read the USAToday article it states, "During home confinement, Vick's conditioning work has been limited by space, but according to Reamon he's been able to work extensively on agility drills." So, to answer your question, that's how he is working out with his high school coach.
@ Heinekenfun
You are not necessarily wrong but the fact is that he has served his punishment. The guy has had 2 years of his life and all his money taken from him for things that are far less than some who are in the league.
Examples:
Lenoard Little Killed someone, then had ANOTHER DUI and is in the league.
James Harrison beat a woman and then put his child in danger(Child could have died from the pitbull attack) and was never suspended.
As disgusting as the things Vick did are, he served his punishment and he should have the opportunity to live his life.
Does he have a right to be in the NFL, of course not.
But he does have the right to live his life.
If he is good enough he should play. Is he a POS? Of course he is but so is Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Ted Stevens, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstien, Charlie Rangle, Nancy Pelosi, Al Gore, and a bunch of other politicians but they keep living their lives and making money off of us.
That is worse than anything Vick has done.
Vick is certainly no worse than Pacman, who was responsible for a guy being paralyzed for life. And Pacman got a second chance. Why not Vick?
Fact is, most dog fighters don't serve time in prison in their first offense. If Mike Vick's name hadn't been Mike Vick, he never would've been put in jail in the first place.
No worries, look at PacMan Jones for the guidelines that Goodell will throw down.
He will supsend Vick for a year and let him go play in the UFL. If he has anything left, a NFL team can sign him next year.
No, Fan_Of_Four McNair's mistress should have found you first. You're the POS to post something so ignorant.
Where's the report abuse button when you need it?
Hi QB rating playing in the backyard is 72.2 and includes six broken windows.
I'm a football fan. I'm also a dog owner.
What Vick did was on the same level as a sick, sedistic serial killer. The violence he encouraged, not only in the dog rings, but by destroying those poor animals is abhorrent and inhumane.
I try to rationalize his return to the NFL by looking at something as recent as the tragedy befallen to Donte Stallworth. He also, is technically, a killer. However, his crime was, by the laws definition (and also in reality) not intentionally committed. He should be suspended for a year and given another chance.
Michael Vick should be banned from the NFL permanently. Any of his PR stunt attempts to reconcile with the ASPCA or any other animal protection firm is a front for this a$$hole to get more money in the bank. I say let him keep his construction job and live his life that way.
Oh, and for the dude who posted the comment about McNair's mistress. That is possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. That man, regardless of his indiscretions, did not deserve two bullets in the head and two in the chest from anyone. And to dredge his memory through the mud is insulting, and wrong.
Pits don't naturally fight each other cluv, asshole scumbags like vick make them fight. They are great dogs and vick is a douche. Please don't compare hunting to strangling dogs and strapping them to rape racks. This scumbag doesn't deserve another chance he deserves to be puppy chow.
The Real Shuxion
that was the most beautiful defense of Mike "Douche" Vick I have ever heard. After comparing him to politicians that destroy our lives day in and day out I now agree to a slight level with you. Thank you for that!
One has to wonder.. if this was your father, son, brother, cousin or friend.. would any of you OPPOSED to giving him a second chance think a little differently?! Seriously THINK about that for a second.. that moment of hesitation you just had, should speak VOLUMES!!
If it was my father son brother or friend I'd be thrilled that he's out of jail. Would I think he should be entitled to make millions and be a role model for children again? Not so much. Think on this... Bernie madoff got 99 years for stealing, mike vick gets two years for torturing and killing innocent animals and an illegal gambling ring. He's got all the second chance he deserves already.
I don't care if the guy is over at the house working in the backyard. The terms of release are that NO ONE but the fiance and kids are supposed to be at the house. Period. So, violate him already and send him back to jail.
And if this were my relative, they better hope to stay in jail because they do NOT want to face me when they get out. Being related does not give you a pass on obeying the law and behaving like a civilized human being. This means no torturing and killing pets.
Is there anyway we can hook him up with Kazemi?
Cluv, you ignorant slut,
First off.., Heineken is the nectar of the gods.
Second, your speculations for what I'm involved in and what goes on around me is completely inaccurate. While I don't go hunting.., I don't have problems with those who do. Mostly, because hunters tend to go for immediate kills on animals for food. Michael Vick was personally involved with beating dogs to death because they didn't fight to a level that was financially rewarding to him, in his illegal business of dog fighting. If you can't determine the difference, then you're too stupid to debate this.
Based on his conduct off the field, which includes lying to the face of the commissioner, his team owner, all his fans, and let's not forget the 'Ron Mexico' herpes thing..., I think it's safe to say that Michael Vick is a 'bad person'. Is he exciting on the field? he was. But he has clearly demonstrated by his personal actions that he cares for nobody but himself. Do I feel bad because he squandered it all away? No..., it was his to squander and he's got no one to blame but himself.
Now, Vick spent time in jail for his inter-state commerce, gambling violations and he's finishing up his sentence. I feel that he's served his dept. to society and he should be free to go on and live the rest of his life. I see any reason why that has to include the NFL though. He had his chance.., wasn't even a great QB when he was there and I'm sure he's diminished since. Playing in the NFL is something that's earned.., not an automatic. Whether you like it or not.., Vick comes with a lot of negative baggage. There will be a negative backlash from fans and local communities for anyplace he will go. Fact.
I hope he lives a long life and can go on to do some good things. I have no interest in him being a part of my favorite team and I would hope that he's not not involved with any of the teams, although I'm sure some team that's down at the bottom will roll the dice on him. Regardless of what he does, or if he plays again. I think there's a difference between a guy who makes a mistake and one who is inherently bad. I think the mistakes of Michael Vick were calculated moves to entertain himself. I think the remorse he shows is from losing all his money and fame. That's different from recognizing the wrong of his actions. Michael Vick took pleasure in the abuse and killing of these animals. I don't care how exciting he was on the football field or how many games he won. Michael Vick is a bad person.
Another overlooked reason this clown shouldn't be back in the NFL is that he isn't a good QB. There are four, maybe five teams in the NFL right now who's current QB is no better than Vick was in his prime. But now Vick's past his prime and a year removed from football. He was already incredibly weak at reading defenses; the year off can't possibly have improved that skill.
I pity the team that signs him, if he's let back in.
