Curiously buried in Chris Echegaray's Friday afternoon item in the Tennessean regarding the arrest of the man who sold a gun to Sahel "Jenni" Kazemi is one of the most significant developments to date in the murder of former Titans and Ravens quarterback Steve McNair.
The family of Kazemi has hired a Nashville lawyer, and the family wants an independent investigation of the crime.
A representative of the family told Echegaray that they can't believe Kazemi acted alone.
A lot of people agree.
Though no one has yet to identify any specific evidence that undermines the murder-suicide theory, there's something about this shooting of McNair that makes many wonder, at a visceral level, whether a 20-year-old girl could commit the ultimate cold-blooded killing, given that McNair apparently was asleep.
Regardless of whether the investigation yields evidence that someone else was involved, an independent look could shed more light on what transpired in the days preceding the killing of McNair to prompt Kazemi to buy a gun -- and then to cause her to use it.
Kazemi's family wants an independent investigation

ghost chasers, take two...
As long as her family is paying for the "independent investigation".
I agree there needs to be an independent investigation into this. There is no way that she could have bought a gun from a felon. THAT'S ILLEGAL! The laws would have stopped that from happening, right Florio?
Are you serious Florio? "A lot people agree."
What people? Her family? This is such a joke. Stop it with this nonsense. You are the only person (outside of the murderer's family) who thinks there is more to this. Stick to football. It's what you know best.
New angle: Staged robbery (including Kazemi and this arrested guy) gone bad perhaps?
McNair is just in vegas on vacation with Elvis,Wacko Jacko, Amelia Earhardt and the Linburgh baby......None of this happened......
AOne13, I think there MIGHT be more to it. I'm at least curious to know....a lot of weird shit went on surrounding the whole situation. A lot of people are comfortable when everything is wrapped up in a nice neat little package....others aren't. Either way, where's the harm in making sure everything is as it appears? Is an independent investigation in Tennessee (where I'm assuming you don't live) really going to affect your life in any way other than the postings on this site? Because you know....there are other sites you can go to if it bothers you. And even if you don't want to....you don't have to read the stuff about the murder-suicide. And even if you feel compelled to read them....you don't have you comment.
WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH FOOTBALL?????????????
Remember she is from, and grew up in, the Middle East! Home of the first female suicide bomber.
Im not being racist, but there is a HUGE cultural difference.

First, commenters say that Kazemi couldn't have handled the gun well enough to hit McNair four times (without knowing if she had any firearms training, of course).
Now that the finding is that she shot him while he was asleep, and therefore could get close and not worry about him moving or trying to defend himself, there's somehow something wrong with this plausible explanation that has no evidence to refute it?
I get so confused.
In an event, leave it alone and stop trying to apply rational thought processes and emotions to an insanely irrational act.
Ray "bones" Barboni (with his foot on Harry Zimm's face, in Get Shorty:
"Now, Harry, I want you to put a "pill" in the bro over there. I know what you're thinking, 'why would I do that? The guy's already dead. But they got a test to see if you fired a gun and Harry-- I was never here."
Point is, investigate your ass off. Let's find out everything.
"many wonder, at a visceral level, whether a 20-year-old girl could commit the ultimate cold-blooded killing"
I normally like Florio's leaps in logic, but this statement is just sexist.
I think this investigation is really about finding a way to sue someone so they can try and cash in...This is America after all, and it's been a week, grieving period is over, now it's time to sue.
This former police officer thinks there was a 3rd party doing the shooting. Here's what he has to say:

Can we remove Marty's comment? I'm surprised it even made it through screening. His comment IS racist...
florio i know this is your site..but we read it for football...now if you want to take a couple of weeks and join in the family's investigation...I say do it BARNEY FIFE
Some parents are never able or willing to accept or understand the suicide (and heinous acts) of their children. Families with the cash to hire a PI do so 75% of the time or more in situations like this.
Florio, you've had a twig up your butt about this whole thing right from the beginning, trying to fan the flames at every opportunity you get. This article is nothing more than that.
We have no problem beliving that, for example, a pair of teenage boys could walk into their school and execute dozens of their fellow classmates.
But the thought of a 20-year old woman shooting her boyfriend while he's asleep is too much for some to grasp?
Ask all the abused husbands in America how crazy some of these bi**hes are.
Florio..

This as much a mystery as the comment ratings system........It went away, but we never really know where it went.........
"A lot of people agree."
"many wonder"
Really? Like who? I haven't read anything. Just wondering what I am missing.
Go figure some Indian being PI for some Arab.
Gimme a un-PC friggin' break.
If he wasn't catting around with some irrational, unstable crazy 19 yo who just turned 20, his 4 boys would still have a father.
Dunno why people think he's some hero. He messed up 5 peoples lives for being a hound dog. He was a football player and obviously a creep and lowlife on a human level.

Seconded
And just like that, Florio's dream (more fodder to write about during slow news period) is kept alive.

After seeing the report that the mother of one of his teenage sons was only getting $500 a month in child support, I'm pretty sure only 2 of his kids actually had a father.
Maybe the hamster ate the comments section.
hey wowbaka, its not racist to point out that she is of middle eastern decent. Its a fact. Its not racist to point out that the culture of the middle east is a little bit different.
There really are female sucide bombers. I know its shocking, but to act like a female is not capable of this act is actually SEXIST.
Women, vut off penises, blow people up, and drown their own children every day in this world.
well marty, the media does all it can to avoid showing pics of minority criminals, and there are a hell of a lot of them.
caucasian perps get their pic on the front page.
Florio,
I hadn't thought about it yet, but these guys are right. Get the comment rating system back up and running.
Oh, by the way, this has what to do with the 2009 football season? If you can somehow work Favre into this story maybe you will have something.
I don't know for sure what happened in this McNair thing, but it sure looks like McNair was stepping out on his marriage, he had done it before, he had a very young love shack honey (How long had he been doing this girl anyway - was she maybe under 18 when it started?), the young love shack honey had been told by McNair that he would be leaving his wife, McNair then told the girl he was not leaving his wife, the girl got stopped for DUI while McNair was in "their" Escalade (Anybody think for a minute that maybe McNair was driving when the lights were turned on and siren was sounded and they pulled the quick switch a roo and the girl wound up in the drivers seat? This would have really pissed her off.), McNair took a cab to the "home" he kept with his wife.
A few days later McNair went to the love shack and maybe told the girl that he was definitely breaking it off with her. (Probably after he had just had another slice of the pie.) The girl waited for him to fall asleep, got the gun she bought "illegally" a couple of days before, and then popped him in the head. She shot him again three times. She freaked out and then put the gun next to her head and pulled the trigger. Sad, but very plausible story.
Again, if you can somehow work Farve into this........
I still don't believe it was a murder-suicide.
Too many low probability events all coming together at the same time:
Odds of her landing on the gun--one in a million
Odds that a day or two before a murder/suicide, two strangers would either post something on blog or tell him he would be killed--one in a million
Odds of a woman committing a murder-suicide--one in a million
Odds of all three happening together--one in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000
I don't believe for one second that she did it has been explained to the public. I haven't been able to buy the "public story" being pushed since the start and still don't.
Has anyone checked on the one armed man's alibi?
Marty, I guess your comment would have been germane if she had blown up the apartment with herself and McNair inside while shouting that it was for the glory of Allah. But she didn't. Easy to find plenty of examples of female killers of any ethnicity, so hers is not really meaningful to the discussion.
