As offseason injuries go, tearing your labrum and dislocating your shoulder while lifting weights sounds particularly painful.
Saints receiver Lance Moore suffered through the experience in April, but it shouldn’t prevent him from being ready for the season.
Moore said recently that he expects to be “100 percent” by two or three weeks into training camp.
By the end of OTA season, he was already on the field running routes.
A long time practice favorite of Drew Brees, Moore’s share of the Saints’ receiving pie could shrink this year. Much of his production came last season when teammates Marques Colston, Jeremy Shockey, and Reggie Bush were hurt.
Moore is playing under a one-year contract as a restricted free agent.
How is the disgraced former president’s rehab coming along? Is he going to ::snicker:: be back to his normal self by the beginning of training camp? Is him at 100% going to mean the difference between the Saints going 10-6 and 6-10?
I just can’t believe how underachieving this team is, considering they have arguably the most locked in QB in the league. Is it Sean(Shawn?) Payton(Peyton?)’s fault? I gotta admit there was a lot better football than their crap last year(except Brees’ chasing the record, of course) so I didn’t follow them closely. I’m just trying to get some of you fans who actually watch them every week to give me some insight into what ails the Saints.

One word…DEFENSE. They lost 5 games last year by three points or less, a combined 13 points across 5 games, while scoring an average of 26.8 points in those 5 games. That is the primary issue, but they also had problems int he kicking game, short yardage on offense, and lots and lots of injuries. They had significant injuries to both offense (Colston, McAllister, Bush, Shockey) and defense (Porter, Ellis, Grant, McKenzie). At one point they had over 20 players on IR.
Imagine a healthy Saints team with a better defense. That is 2009.
Last season the Saints lost six games by a combined 18 points. The rest of the division clearly stepped up while we were busy working with the few high-priced additions that were made (Shockey and Vilma) and thinking that they would be enough. Injuries were the name of the game on both sides of the ball, but defense in particular.
This offseason as many upgrades as could be made to the defense were, both in the line and the secondary. Unfortunately, the linebacking corps seems to be a position of weakness. With any luck, The new defense (lead by new DC Greg Williams) shows up and the Saints finally are able to become legit.
What do Lance Moore and Dexys Midnight Runners have in common?
One hit wonder.
(That’s just a prediction and past performance is not necessarily a barometer of future success and your mileage may vary and well, you know the other cliches.)
Lance Moore will be a stud WR this year!
“Come On Eileen” is a fave of Panthers fan screaming sheep! It’s dubbed on a cassette tape (he’s old school, you know) along with Wham!’s “I’m Your Man” and Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record). He gives these tracks two snaps up!
looking for insight? 2 words. DEFENSE, INJURYS. the first one has been covered. saints had more guys on IR last season than the rest of the NFC south put together, PUT TOGETHER!! including 8 starters. the rookie CB porter was looking great till he broke his wrist. oh and i almost forgot we had a one legged kicker first half of the season.
