Cornwell expects a lockout

The CBA negotiation process between the players union and the NFL is just getting started after a meeting this week both sides called “good.”

But one of the finalists for the NFLPA Executive Director job, attorney David Cornwell, believes he knows how the negotiations will end up.

Based on what I observed last week, an NFL lockout is a certainty,” Cornwell wrote on his Twitter page.  “Count on it.

Cornwell doesn’t expound on the reasons why he believes this.  But there is a long time to go before any possible lockout to find out why.

He’s just bitter and hoping that there is a lockout, so he can say that he was the best one for the job.

Ban all unions. If you don’t like your employer, find another job. It’s crap to watch all these people (not just sports) bank on the fact that the maffia holds an ounce of leeway on an organization. People need to step up and set the rules we want. If we want players to make less or owners to make less then make a point by not going to games or better yet, stop purchasing the sponsors products. Luckily for Vox, the makers of blowup sheep is not a sponsor.

Agents better inform their clients that while there is no more salary cap, there is also no more salary floor. While a few select FA’s may sign lucrative deals, many of them may find themselves forced to sign for far less than they had anticipated. In addition, when all the guys who thought that they were going to hit their first free agent jackpot find out that they are going to have to play as RFA’s for another year, perhaps that may change a few minds.

I fully expect a work stoppage because the players don’t understand no salary cap benefits all the owners and a minority of the players.

Good. When the players are in the top 1% of the United States in salary and are still holding out for more money, and the salaries are still escalating at 7% a year or greater when the cost of living is at most 3%, the players have got nothing to complain about. (I notice none of that top money goes to the old retirees that made significantly less that are hobbling around on one hip.)
Lock them out owners and let some ex-college players play for you. I’ll be cheering for the team, not the top 1% complainers in the USA.
