Ware, Cowboys far apart on contract length?

NFL_ware1.jpgTerrell Suggs just set a new monetary standard for pass rushing linebackers that DeMarcus Ware will likely surpass one day.

According to ESPN's Len Pasquarelli, that day may not come for a while.

The Cowboys and Ware are reportedly far apart in terms.  Money may not be the issue; it rarely is in Dallas.  The two sides disagree "pretty strongly" on the length of the contract.

Ware, naturally, wants a shorter deal so he can hit free agency again in his prime.  The Cowboys want six-to-seven years.

If the Cowboys get their wish on a deal that long, Ware could be looking at a contract that tops Albert Haynesworth's $100 million contract.

Unlike Haynesworth, Ware would likely have a chance to reach the end of his deal.

Demarcus Ware is he most humble and most deserving player in the league. He is was by far the best defender in the league last season and produces far more than Harrison or Suggs and expecially Haynesworth. I say as a Cowboys fan, give him whatever he wants and make him the A-Rod of the NFL

I don't know about most deserving. You never hear his name in a big game. I think I heard his name once in the Philly must win game last year. Like all of those other Dallas Cowboy "All Pros"--Overrated!

So that would make the Cowboys the Yankees of the NFL?
I tend to agree with that sentiment. Dallas does have a lot of loyal fans and just as many people who despise them; very Yankee-like. And they even have the recent history of free spending with little to no return on the field in common.
Putting Ware aside, Jerry Jones should go ahead and keep signing guys who grab headlines because their off-field activities to big money contracts and sending them to Cabo before big games.
I'd be quite happy to see Dallas one game out of the playoffs in perpetuity.

Prrgp30 -- yeah, 20 sacks in 16 games... and none of those were big games? Where did big games get limited to only the last game?

This is a guy who plays close to every single defensive snap in every game. Doesn't talk trash (that I've heard). And produces at a phenomenal level.

Haha, but yeah I guess 20 sacks is overrated.
8, 11, 14, 20. Consistently better each year since his rookie year = overrated.

He could be James Harrison...who's been cut 3 times by the Steelers. And now he had an MVP year and they act like they've known it all along.

Ware has been productive. Has improved year over year and will get his money.
Harrison was cut once by the Steelers, twice by the Ravens.
