Eagles rookies report to training camp in one week, and that welcome news for those of us stretching for stories during this quiet time in the NFL.
One of the Eagles to watch closely in camp is tight end Brent Celek. The new starter is expected to have a key component of the offense.
"It is a different situation, and I know all eyes will be on me," Celek said recently.
Celek is replacing the annually disappointing L.J. Smith, who rarely stayed healthy or produced consistently. Celek flashed last season with a 131-yard game against Seattle in Week Nine, then made his mark in the playoffs.
Celek caught 19 passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns in the playoffs, including two in the NFC Championship.
Only two tight ends in NFL history have caught more passes in a single postseason.
If Celek can maintain that level of play, Donovan McNabb will have another quality option to throw to. He can't complain about his lack of weapons anymore.
Celek ready for larger role

The tight end's name is Brent Celek, not "Brett".
I remember when Celek came in last year and I said I liked him and was excited. People on the messageboard I frequent laughed at me. I can't say yet that I've gotten the last laugh as LJ Smith showed flashes like this too, but if Celek stays healthy and can contribute 60-75% of what he did in the playoffs, he'll be pro-bowl caliber. Maybe he can be the new Chad Lewis. McNabb has needed that for a few years now.
Having both Celek & Ingram is awesome merely for the fact that we'll never have to worry about L.J. Smith again.. Dude was one of the most overhyped players on the Eagles roster this decade.. I think Celek will pan out to be a really good player for us and just fit in his role.. Ingram tho, has the chance to be a real star for us depending on how he fits in and how he'll come back from his injury..
He's gonna get his ass kicked.
His sister (who is pretty damn hot) owns a bar in Cincinnati. Great place to watch Eagles games in the area of Bengal country. Game On sportsbar.
At least he doesn't carry the ball like a loaf of bread. "Annually disappointing" nailed LJ's description.
Can he block if not Mcscab will be on his butt often
