Childress says Favre's throwing motion "looked fine"

NFL_favre2_250.jpgAs the clock approaches midnight, we knew that we were missing something.

We realized that we hadn’t written an item today about Brett Favre.

And in our last look at NBCSports.com for the evening, we noticed a link to an AP item with quotes from Vikings coach Brad Childress regarding you-know-who.

Childress said he has seen video of Favre throwing the ball since having his shoulder/arm surgically repaired.  Childress said that Favre’s arm “looked fine” in footage of Favre throwing the ball while working out in Mississippi.

“I liked his throwing motion, the little bit that I saw on tape,” Childress said.

Childress also reiterated that he’s fine with not knowing right know what Favre plans to do.  “I’ve said all the way along, he’s going to let us know when [he's ready],” Childress said.  “It’s not like we’re doing anything but being
on vacation right now.”

As a reader recently pointed out, the fact that the Vikings are merely waiting for the “up” or “down” from Favre means that every other detail — including a contract — has been worked out, and that it’s just a matter of Favre deciding when he wants to end the suspense/misery.

So there you have it.  Our perfunctory Favre item for the day.  Tune in Monday for another one.  Or more.

Alright Good work Mr. Florio I was starting to get worried. No Vikings/Favre news for almost an entire day. I was starting to shake and get the sweats.

Childress — I have a feeling you’ll soon have plenty of time for vacationing.

everyone can hate on me… but favre gives the vikes a much better chance of winnin the tjack or sage… bevell trusts favre unlike tjack or sage… so that means its not gonna be run on 1st, run on 2nd, pass on third and short and miss… punt…. every viking fan knows thats the deal.. maybe some creativity will come outta the situation with him and percy?? HOPEFULLY… most likely we’ll choke…
    DISGRUNTLED VIKES FAN……

Hmmmm so why would they watch tape too. I mean think about it? how, why and who makes tape of throwing and sends it out for recreational viewing……….
The dude is a Viking! DONE DEAL!

Over 3 1/2 hours between posts, and this is what we get.
Could have atleast told us a 7th round long snapper signed a contract or something.

good call jrubb, other great QB’s of the modern era(Montana/Marino)sat a number of times during they’re careers due to injuries which is what puts Brett in a class of his own. It took well over 15 seasons before his arm started to show any wear and if the operation was a success then you can expect to see him carrying vikes who score a TD off the feild on his shoulders(ala Donald Driver). As QB’s go Favre is a highly talented Ironman who can still play at the level of the best QB’s currently in the game.

OOOOOH MAN…I hope we get an update on what Brett has for breakfast this morning..I doubt i’ll be able to function at work if I don’t find out…Please help me Florio

Now that Sydney Rice is getting a paycheck does football take too much of his personal time? Will Harvin have charactor issues? Will we have special teams or special ed. teams AGAIN?????Brett Favre can only be a plus to the vikes!!! Keep the focus on the real issues!!!!!!!

I so hope that Brett decides to stay away this year. So that Childress can look like he has been caught on his knees, with a deer in the headlights look, after someone has busted down the door. I just want to see how he would explain this to his team and his, “fans”.
This would be a much better story than Favre coming back.

Jeez Florio – you couldnt hold it for another 90 minutes or so you would have let the “Days Without a Fart/Favre Meter” actually make it to read “one day”. Unfortunately, you let one rip again and now the “Days Without a Fart/Favre Meter” has been reset to “zero days”.

PS – and for all of you who are still living up the Fart/Favre’s blow pipe – “who gives a flying fart in space”

Col Klink’s evaluation of QB’s has not been his strongest suit as evidenced by trading up in the draft for the bust that is affectionately known as T Jack Off. So it makes sense that he would rely on video tape to make his evaluation of the most important position on his roster.
Why does he fly to FLA to smoke blunts with his #1 draft pick but he can’t get on a plane to check out in person his new found whipping boy?
If the NFL were smart, they would sell this train wreck on pay per view.

How can he be a bust if he was picked late 2nd round?

  15. empty13 says: Jul 20, 2009 10:25 AM

was favre blowing him a kiss at the time?

  16. kdog says: Jul 20, 2009 10:34 AM

first off, I love the Col. Klink comparison, however, we could do a lot worse where coaching is concerned. Childress did exactly the right thing by sending Bevell down with a team trainer to check Favres progress. Bevell was his QB coach and knows Better than most if he is performing at the high level we would expect. As i suggested in my earlier comment Harvin is a potential charactor issue!!! Kudo’s to Klink

    ———————–
Perhaps because his play is on par with that of someone drafted in the 6th round AND because nobody else had higher than a 5th round grade on him and traded picks away to acquire the 2nd round pick to draft him.

Come on people,Brett Farve is still as good as any of your no names QB’s.
What ya gonna say when you eat that crow after Farve and the Vikes win the SB.

  20. BorisBulldog says: Jul 20, 2009 1:44 PM

Pity the poor Vike’s fans that will get to see Favor pulling defeat out of the jaws of victory once again this year!

  21. kdog says: Jul 20, 2009 2:04 PM

looking for anyones thoughts, do you think Asher Allen and/or Jamarca Sanford can step in as rookies and improve the def. secondary? lets face it Winfield cant do it alone!!!!!

  22. kdog says: Jul 20, 2009 4:12 PM

ok lets try a different approach to get some thoughts. As much as i like Sydney Rice’s potential and his height it seems as though Aundrae Allison (same draft lower round)has shown more desire and potential so far. Does anyone agree that someone needs to light a fire under Rices butt?
