A reader pointed out earlier today that veteran center Jeremy Newberry said on his Facebook page that he’s retiring from football.
We’ve confirmed that, indeed, Newberry is done.
Per a league source, Newberry has been having trouble with a knee on which microfracture surgery was performed roughly five years ago.
“As he was getting ready for camp,” the source said, “his knee just got worse and worse.”
The Falcons cut Alex Stepanovich not long after signing Newberry, so there’s a chance that, unlike another former Falcons who was cut earlier this year, Stepanovich might be coming back to Atlanta.
