Spencer, Sampson to sign with UFL’s Orlando franchise

With NFL training camps rapidly approaching, a pair of former NFL offensive linemen have decided to join up with the United Football League for its inaugural season.

Former Houston Texans starter and 2006 third-round draft pick Charles Spencer and former Kansas City Chiefs 2004 seventh-round selection Kevin Sampson have reached agrements with the Orlando franchise coached by Jim Haslett, according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com.

Spencer is projected as Orlando’s starting left tackle. And Sampson is expected to line up as the starting right tackle.

Spencer has battled knee and leg ailments since entering the NFL. Besides the Texans, he has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Carolina Panthers.

Sampson, who was out football last season, started seven games for Kansas City in three seasons after being drafted five years ago.
