Vick could meet with Goodell by week’s end

Michael Vick may have a timeline for his potential return to the league after all.

According to Chris Mortensen and Sal Paolantonio, a meeting between Commissioner Roger Goodell and Michael Vick could take place by Thursday or Friday.

The good news for Vick doesn’t end there: Vick is reportedly likely to get a conditional reinstatement to the NFL by next week.

Under this scenario, the ESPN scribes say that Goodell would reserve the right to further extend Vick’s suspension, but allow him to attend training camp if he signs with a team.

A conclusive decision on Vick’s status is expected by September 1.

If Vick is dealt with so quickly, the odds on him joining a UFL would seemingly go down.

Of course, Vick will still have to find a suitor. (Although I’m not sure the rest of the NFL shares our fearless leader’s enthusiasm for Vick’s abilities. The record-setting number of commenters certainly don’t.)

The one variable in Vick’s conditional reinstatement will be how the meeting with Goodell actually goes.

Barring that, it sounds like Vick will be free to play again before most teams start practicing in full pads.
