As the Vikings wait for word as to whether one plus-30 player will be joining the team, they’re learned that another — and much younger — plus-30 player will be sticking around.
Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the Vikings have signed cornerback Antoine Winfield to a four-year extension.
He is now under contract through 2013, which means that he’ll likely finish his career with the Vikings.
Unless the other corner they signed today, Asher Allen, becomes a star and thus Winfield becomes expendable.

Awesome!!!
AW has 2-3 more years of high level play left.
Glad to hear. At Home In Minnesota Antoine is loved by the fans.
Thanks for staying in minnesota
This is both a good thing and a bad thing at the same time…Like most Vikings deals I guess.
Were cominnnn’ were cominnnn’
Wooooooo-Hooooooo Yay ‘Twan
Good for him. As a Bills fan, it still sucks to see him playing for the Vikings, but the guy is really good. He deserves to get paid. I still wish the Bills could have re-signed him though.
He’s way better than Nate Clements, who I was actually glad to see out of Buffalo.
About Time!!!! The Saints game was all he needed to do to prove his worth, but he did so much more during the season.
