Back surgery for Charles Tillman

In a surprise development, Bears cornerback Charles Tillman reportedly has undergone back surgery.

According to David Haugh of the Chicago Tribune, Tillman recently underwent an arthroscopic procedure to “clean up a disc in his back.”

He’s expected to miss all of training camp and most of the preseason.

Tillman missed the final two games of the 2006 season with a similar problem.  In February 2007, he underwent surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back.

The seventh-year pro has been a fixture in the team’s starting lineup since his rookie season of 2003.

    That’s just great.
And here I was worried about their safeties.
Rookie D.J. Moore better be as good as he looked in college.

Son of a bitch! I knew the Bears’ offseason was going way too well. Dammit dammit, dammit!!

obviously the Bears season is over. No d-backs and no receivers makes this an easy team to play against. 6-10.

    @sonicjizzmopper
I hope you enjoy hell, if it exists which I don’t usually believe it does. But for people like you… I dunno.
You are a sad and pathetic man.
Pat was a true hero and role model. If any of us could be half the man he was, we’d be amazing.
I say a lot of retarded, nonsensical, irrevalent stuff, but what you said, that was in poor taste bro, grow up.
    God bless Pat.
(sorry, I idolized the guy ever since I was in 4th grade. I teared up when I read the comment. Maybe I’m over reacting and for that I am sorry and feel free to call me a bitch and whatever else.)

Uhh…. Pat Tillman was killed by friendly fire. That does not sound very heroic to me. But then again, I live in the reality based world where facts really do matter.

I developed a need to not turn up to camp. I’ve been dragging ass since week 17 last year, but just found a surgeon willing to operate NOW!

Who is going to cover Percy Harvin? I think you mean who is going to throw to Percy Harvin? TJack? Sagey? Old man Favre?
Anyway, Percy Harvin blows so who cares?

Tillman played injured all last year and we were still able to go 9-7. Tillman had a scope on a disc and is out 10 weeks. He will be back this season. Corey Graham and Zack Bowman have both played good at corner in OTA’s. Plus Danieal Manning and DJ Moore are good corners so for everyone to jump on the Vikings and Packers bandwagons go ahead. The Vikes haven’t signed Favre yet and are going to hinder the development of any future QB’s to fuel one mans revenge against his former GM for one year. Besides Favre is a turnover machine especially now that his arm has lost a little zip. And the Packers please. They lost their right tackle have little or no running game. Ryan Grant has quit now that he got paid. And that defense switching over to a 3-4 is gonna struggle. I’ve heard Kampman looks horrible as and outside linebacker and they have to put in plays for him to put his hand on the ground. The Bears got Cutler and he will do well with Hester, Olsen and Forte.

It is a not a good thing to be requiring cleanup procedures in your back. Backs are not knees, back problem are disabling if you have one.
I am sure Tillman didn’t choose this date, it simply became unbearable. It could result a botched initial surgery too, if not then a continuing degradation. None of it is good.

6 to 12 weeks…meaning he’s back somewhere between pre-season game 4 (Cleveland) and the week 5 bye week, prior to @ATL.
Not good news at all, either way…but on the bright side, this may mean Zack Bowman gets his chance to prove himself. He was supposedly hot sh1t in OTAs, for whatever that’s worth…
Or will the Graham as a FS experiment end now?
Of course, Payne stays as the punisher at SS.
Most importantly–more than ever–Vasher needs to step up and return to Pro Bowl form.
(Even more important than any of that, Marinelli needs to get that D-line playing at a dominant level, and the secondary’s ability to cover will become just that–secondary).
Just hurry up and getchyerass back, Peanut!
