Perhaps demonstrating the reality that the details of the conditional reinstatement of quarterback Mike Vick aren’t obvious, some players are expressing disagreement with the outcome.
Said Titans running back Chris Johnson on his Twitter page: “THE NFL TRIPPIN THEY NEED TO LET MIKE VICK PLAY HE ALREADY BEEN IN JAIL 2 YEARS DAMN WTF IM UPSET.”
Terrell Owens has yet to chime in.
Hopefully he’ll wait until we get our popcorn ready.
Amen!!
I am so, *so* glad that Chris Johnson isn’t on my favorite team.
TENNESSEE: Where “Wonderlic” is short for “Ah wunder what happen if ah lick this toad…”
Here’s a Twitter to Chris Johnson……Who care wat you say? You r gettin 2B more irritatin all da time – idiot
college educated?
/wtf im upset. damn you NCAA!
THE NFL TRIPPIN indeed! Chris Johnson would have felt right at home sitting at the Algonquin Round Table. Sometimes Johnson flaunts that colllege education a little too much though.
Someone PLEASE take away CJ’s computer. And his cell phone. What a tool…
Sounds to me like he’s happy Vick is back
wow. what an idiot. i’m sure it really is “every coach’s dream” to have illiterate jokers like this on their team. go be upset for nothing, chris. oh yea, and while your at it, get some basic comprehension skills
Looks like Chris Johnson’s reading comprehension is surpassed only by his grammar skills.
Again? Are you going to mention T.O. at the end of every single article you post this week?
“Drew Bennett has announced his retirement. Terrell Owens has yet to chime in.”
Chris Johnson is a twit, that is why they call it Twitter.
Mike, I think you’re misinterpreting Chris’ remarks (or your title is not accurate). I think he’s rooting FOR Vick to play. You see, in the vernacular, “trippin’” means “to be crazy”. And “WTF” means…well, get it right.
I am not happy at all.
A sadistic campaign of murder and torture and he serves under two years.
If TO doesnt like it and keeps spouting off, then he should be suspended for being a moron.
The NFL is not a right it is a priviledge and Vick doesnt deserve another chance.
He has a second chance his a free man, but should not be back in the NFL and those pampered idiots that disagree need to grow up!
Now, let’s see which owner, GM or coach flushes the toilet on his franchise and career by signing the “man who has paid for his crime”.
Chris Johnson’s an idiot! He’s also a turd.
Is Chris Johnson retarded? Vick is being allowed to play. He’s lucky he doesn’t have a lifetime ban or even a one year ban.
Chris must have some neighborhood dogs barking all night and keeping him awake.
Oh, what a surprise.
I read the headline and thought it was actually going to be someone on the opposite side of the argument.
But I can see where he’s coming from….never know when it’s going to be you.
Chris Johnson just loves the attention. I think the result is fair. The suspension could be 0-5 games… That’s not bad at all. It’s all up to Vick. Behave and you may see the field starting week 1, f* up and you will get a longer suspension.
Players are all just a bunch of whinners!
Shut up Chris
Hey Chris………..how about you stick to eating bananas and swinging from vines…..did I make myself clear or was I TRIPPIN?
Chris Johnson is IGNINT. He should be happy that Vick can play if he keeps his nose clean. What more do these guys want ? THEY are all ” TRIPPIN”.
Florio,
Did someone piss in your TO’s cereal this morning? Why has it been constant TO bashing on this site?
Keep commenting players – so I know who to never want on my team.
Bottom line, Vick is a convicted felon plain and simple, IMO the NFL has all the right in the world to discipline as they see fit. How many other convicted felons have trouble finding work upon being released do to their prior transgressions? If Vick couldn’t run fast or throw a football, would anyone be complaining about him not being hired back at his previous job at say an IT company or an investment firm or some other non professional athlete job? My guess is no……….
Dear Lord, please open the eyes of people who just choose not see the forest through the trees. Mike Vick is a man who knowingly (for many years) committed a crime in which even after he was caught would not admit to doing it. The justice system of the United States of America is a separate entity to that of the National Football League in where it is a privilege to be able to play a game in which we all love. It is a PRIVILEGE : a right or immunity granted as a peculiar benefit, advantage, or favor ; especially : such a right or immunity attached specifically to a position or an office… NOT a GOD given right. Goodell is not saying he can’t play in the NFL anymore, he is saying that the United States Judicial system punished him and now the NFL is punishing him.
The ONLY reason he couldn’t play in the NFL the past 23 months is because MOMMY and DADDY Justice wouldn’t let him come out and play. Oh yeah, because he killed many of man’s best friends.
nolliabed ,
i bet you wont say that to an african american’s face, you pompous racist bastard. You internet geeks kill me with your cyber courage. Go back to your porn.
I can’t believe the NFL commissioner would even consider reinstating Michael Vick. If Vick would have been in any other profession i.e. a doctor, an attorney, etc. his license would have been revoked permanently. How many businesses would reinstate an individual with a criminal record, especially one that includes murder. Ok, some individuals are going to say, “It was just a bunch of dogs he killed” but does that make it any better?” The fact of the matter is he broke the law; abused and murder innocent animals that he used for his own monetary gain.
Michael Vick should be treated as any other person that was once in a respected profession and now has a criminal record. He should be banned from playing football every again, period.
But now that the commissioner has reinstated this convicted criminal I sincerely hope there’s not a team that will consider dealing with the backlash if they do pick him up. I for one wouldn’t pay to go see Michael Vick unless maybe….a pack of fight-trained angry, hungry American Pit Bull terriers were after his ***!!
PCummings: You have too much time on your hands.
VBEACH31
You be bad
Screw Vick. I hope he tears an ACL the first time he steps on the field. He should be flipping burgers.
People should send a clear message to the NFL… boycott their goods and services, and do not go to the games.

Yeah, way to comment on one person’s opinion by looking like an idiot.
The guy is on twitter. I don’t know him, haven’t had a conversation with him, but I would love to read some of your tweets/texts or whatever and see how well written they are. @hurls, you forgot to capitalize the letter of the first words in your sentence and there is a period missing from you last sentence.
I am.
Maybe I’m just confused, but why does everyone care so much about what football players do? They are just athletes. Leave all the personal life garbage to TMZ and other celebrity channels. I’m sick of all the feigned outrage like he came out and killed your dog. Who cares, he may not even get signed anyway. I liked it better before the 24 hour sports media came to be and football players were just people we saw on TV for commercials and football games.
Chris Johnson’s response to all you posters….
“Yo all trippin’ dogs. I mean, Mike hangin’ da dogs, you all da dogs for trippin’ on my man Mike for da dogs, dogs.’
As Dr. Andrew Young, a prominent african american once said of Vick…..”It’s just Ghetto Loyalty”…..It wasn’t an endorsement, it was more or less an embarrassment…….Vick was in jail, when Johnson came into the league, not a former teammate, not a college buddy, not from the same geographical area. It’s just the same old mantra……And i’m sure the twitters will eat it up…..This is nothing but a glorified Show N Tell…..
damn, anyone see how many tweets CJ made today. dude uses that thing a lot
It never ceases to amaze me what these athletes regard as “right” and “just”. On practically the eve of destroying my favorite sport by fighting over the billions of dollars produced in the NFL, these players actually think that what the commish is doing is UNJUST?
IMHO, it wouldn’t have been unjust of the commish to ban Vick for life. My only hope is that my favorite team doesn’t sign him. Or maybe that two years out of the league has eroded his skills so much that he doesn’t make it on a team. His actions were deplorable. Should he be punished by not being able to hold down ANY job. Of course not. I just don’t think that he deserves another shot at this particular job. But then, many of us have beaten this dead dog already and it doesn’t appear to get anywhere.
Hrm…maybe I should have left out that last line.
Chris Johnson + Terrell Owens IQ = 52-1/2
If the NFL recruits from our nation’s universities, why are so many players just this side of illiterate?
Tony Dungy’s greatest contribution would be reading to his brood of precocious demons. He could serve them cookies and milk and have them sleep in his bed. Maybe watch some cartoons afterward.
those of you reacting in the “Vick should never play again” way fail to realize one thing:
since when is the NFL a model of moral superiority?
it’s an entertainment business and controversy sells – Vick being reinstated just ups the revenues of whatever team he’s going to. If there are people so strongly against Vick that they’d shed their season tickets, someone will just pop up to buy them in their place.
also, if you supposedly believe in the justice system we have, shouldn’t he truly be rehabilitated? what he did was disgusting, no doubt, but why get in a hissy fit because he’s allowed to play in a league that at the end of the day, couldn’t care less that he fought dogs?
I think its going to be interesting to see how this decision affects the Donte Stallworth case and others like Plaxico, I think that Vick got a pretty good deal from Goddell.
Fisher better give this kid 300+ carries a season before his rookie contract runs out. I would really be scared to give somebody with this much brain power a huge new contract.
I have dropped Chris Johnson one spot on my fantasy cheat sheet for having a twitter account, and another spot for updating it so frequently.
GM: Hey boss, I wanted to talk to you about this player who is coming off suspension. Here’s a little fact sheet I put together. (hands sheet to owner)
Owner: Hmm…..led his team to a couple of NFC title games I see.
GM: Yeah, great athlete, tremendously skilled.
Owner: I see here he did some prison time. What’s that all about?
GM: Yeah……well it seems he liked to do a little dog fighting.
Owner: So he had a dog and he would set up fights with other guys dogs?
GM: Well it was a little more involved than that.
Owner: How so?
GM: Well, he kind of set up a whole operation, if you want to call it that. He bought some land, built a house, build a bunch of out buildings to house and train a whole of bunch of dogs, hired some friends to run it, actually named it and everything . “Bad Newz Kennels” he called it. But it was kind of funny because he spelled news with a “z” at the end instead of an “s”.
Owner: Catchy. Illegal though, right?
GM: Apparently. Hence the whole jail thing.
Owner: So you could say he was head of a pretty substantial criminal organization, kinda like Tony Soprano, right?
GM: Well the shit really hit the fan when some of the details about what went on there got out. Turns out, when a dog didn’t turn out to be such a great fighter they would “dispose” of them in some not so nice ways. You know, swinging the dogs by their tails and smashing their heads into large rocks, holding their heads in buckets of water to drown them, hanging them from trees and beating them to death, nasty stuff.
Owner: Yikes. Anything else?
GM: Umm….well apparently when there were no dogs to torture or dog fights to go to, they would amuse themselves by putting untrained house pets in with the fight dogs and watching them get torn apart.
Owner: Well I gotta wrap this up. Playing golf this afternoon. To summarize, you want me to consider signing a player that set up a dog fighting operation, oversaw and participated in the torture and murder of defenseless animals, and then perjured himself initially before finally admitting it?
GM: Jeez, when you say it like it sounds terrible.
Owner: Anything else?
GM: Well it’s possible he may have embezzled some money from one of his companies. But that hasn’t been proven, and you know what they say.
Owner: I think I am going to have to pass on this one, Tom.
GM: (sounding disappointed) Well, you’re the boss.
Owner: One other thing, Tom. For even suggesting I hire that sick, twisted animal to be the face of my franchise, you can clean out your office and get the hell out of my building.
I’m not happy, either. People have killed other people and didn’t serve a 2 1/2 year suspension.
Double standard is a double standard. But Mike’s agent’s phone is ringing, and teams are interested. I guess we would have to wait until October to watch him play.
I have to get that NFL ticket, though.
@PiscesLady, you don’t need to be licensed to play football, whereas if you can’t properly practice law without a license, and you can’t go to the local playground and play doctor. Moreover, it’s not even like driving where you need a license to do it. Professional Football, Basketball, Hockey, and other sports are completely different than having a regular job (and I’m including being a lawyer, doctor, etc. under ‘regular’). When you have forms that say you need to get them signed by a licensed professional, do you think you can go to a professional athlete and get that done?
Quite frankly, the fact that he can make the distinction between how to treat an animal and a human does make it better than him killing humans, and animals are exploited and killed everyday (albeit, not killed in the same, terrible, manner). When they start making it illegal to play football without a license, you can hold him to the same standard (IF they have the same provisions as lawyers and doctors, which they would never have considering athletes don’t hold the fortune and well being of others in their hands). Until the day when football becomes so vital to our society that a game can determine whether someone lives or dies or goes to jail, or the result of a game ratifies some piece of legislation (speaking of government office, didn’t Ted Kennedy kill someone), he can’t be held to the same standard as a lawyer or a doctor, even if everyone should strive to not have any interaction with police officers.
Florio, bring back the rating system. There is some gold in here.
And Chris Johnson, you better hope you keep your nose clean. Roger won’t forget this little nugget.
I know without a doubt I would have been sent to prison and would have lost my License to Practice and my job FOREVER as a convicted felon. Must be nice being an ignorant priveleged athlete.
And I strongly believe in second chances and am glad Vick will get a chance after the suspension.
hell i’ll say it, have said it out loud before. some of yall overestimate yer speaking abilities, righteousness and obviously yer toughness. especially the last.
he doesnt belong back in the nfl. let him work construction for 5-7 years then lets talk about it.
and his supporters also dont belong in polite society.
but, roger caved in, with the minor caveat of a little “wait and see”.
I’ve decided to vote with my money. I canceled my Sunday Ticket today. My kids and I will be doing something else on Sunday instead of watching football.
Vick may have paid his debt to society, but there is no way as a parent and pet owner that I am going to let my kids watch a sports league that allows people convicted of running an illegal organization whose sole purpose it was to abuse animals for sport, to be on their payroll.
Goodbye and good luck.

Why is it that most of the, um, college players can’t speak or write English? How can that be? They have tests there, right? They can tell when someone is illiterate, right?
Wow. There’s a bunch of retarded, illiterate, dumb-asses running around on the field in the NFL via our wonderful college system. These are exactly the type of people you DO NOT hand a chunk of change over to. Stupid makes stupid!

So you want to compare a drunk driving ACCIDENT with the intentional killing of dogs for sport/shits and giggles? Say what you want about Albert Haynesworth, Ted Kennedy, Dante Stallworth… I think those guys are turds. But none of them intentionally killed people. If you want to try to compare Vick’s actions with someone who killed people, try Rae Carruth. How’s his career doing?
Also, although you don’t need to be licensed to play football, as Chris Johnson clearly demonstrates, you still need to uphold a certain level of professionalism to represent the NFL. If Vick wants to continue playing football, he can always go to the CFL or the UFL.
See….This is a True Fan of the NFL calling out all fans of every team to let the issue go…get on with the training camps….and let the guy make a career again. He made a mistake. He paid the dues. now, let him play. Go Rams Go !!!!!! Smack Chick Chazzz

Who said it’s a model of moral superiority? No one said that. But the NFL does have a personal conduct policy, and I’m pretty sure somewhere between betting, failing drug tests, engaging in dogfighting and killing dogs he violated a rule or two in that policy. As such, he put his livelihood in Goodell’s hands. I agree with the majority here. Goodell went too soft on him.
Is it just me , or does Chris Johnson sound more like an idiot every time he opens his mouth? I’m glad he’s a Titan, he’s a very fast back but he’s a true dummy. Vick will probably be a Titan since VY can’t cut it. Matter of fact, a lot of these Titan players all talk and sound like dummies. VY, CJ, LW..lol. One of the dirtiest team in da NFL.

I think the issue is whether or not everyone feels he has “paid his dues”, and clearly a lot of people don’t.
He hasn’t faced a REAL NFL suspension yet. The “suspension” he was serving wasn’t a real suspension because he COULDN’T have been participating anyway, because he was dealing with court and…oh….being IN PRISON.
jimicos, when it comes out that Vick killed someone let me know. And I was responding to what she wrote, so you’d have to read that in order to gain context.
Here’s a question I will ask you, in regards to Chris Johnson, do you need to have more professionalism being in the military or the NFL? Now go look the things that some military people write on their myspace pages or twitter and post to youtube. Just because a certain level of professionalism is expected by the public does not just endow professionalism on everyone in the NFL; I don’t expect an NFL player to have the same decorum as a lawyer or doctor or even a business professional for that matter. Their worlds are completely different and their livings are a product of how they perform on the field. And before you go there, yes, I realize that their off the field exploits matter as well, but that is only after they have established themselves on the field. There are a lot of well spoken/written mediocre to bad players in the NFL that no one notices because they haven’t yet produced on the field. James Harrison skipped the first white house visit when he was on the Steelers, but nobody cared. The second time, when he was a good player, it garnered media attention.
Personally I expected more of a punishment. Maybe, just maybe, Vick got off a little easy.
Chris Johnson is a literary genius. I also get the feeling that Chris Johnson’s ethics and values may be somewhat….lax. Probably doesn’t consider running a dog fighting / killing operation all that bad a thing.
@ jimicos

These players that kill people in drunk driving accidents made a choice that every adult knows can easily lead to this result. People go out to bars and have every intention of driving home knowing they will be impared yet we still like to call them “accidents”.

That’s because they are “accidents”. They aren’t intentional. Knowing full well the POTENTIAL cause of your actions isn’t the same as knowing the DEFINITE cause of your actions. Having unprotected sex MAY cause a baby, but it doesn’t necessarily. That’s an “accident”. Something you weren’t trying to accomplish, but a byproduct of your intended action. Much the same as driving a car UNIMPAIRED can accidentally lead to the loss of life.
Doing something and knowing the definite outcome (for example, having your pregnant girlfriend shot, or electrocuting dogs, or gambling on a bloodsport) is an intentional action with a definitive outcome.
Mike, I agree with the guy who said you HAVE TO get the rating system back. And it would be nice to be able to vote 0.
As for Vick, he’s bound to screw this up. Everyone knows he likes to toke the weed every now and then. Give him a drug test next week and this fiasco will soon be over.

I wasn’t referring to Chris Johnson’s professionalism. I couldn’t care less what he tweets about, or what anyone else tweets about for that matter. I was referring to the shit stain Michael Vick left smeared across “the shield.” I can’t think of a company in this country that wouldn’t fire someone for doing what Vick did. Professionalism, personal conduct, call it what you will. Vick showed an utter lack of it and Goodell let him off easy. Very easy.
