Three more Cowboys rookies sign

PFT’s arduous march through every rookie signing has picked up steam in recent days and is heading for the home stretch.

The Cowboys are doing their part to avoid clutter by grouping their deals together.

Three more players reached agreements on four-year deals Monday: linebacker Brandon Williams, safety Mike Hamlin and kicker David Buehler.

Williams, a fourth-round pick, will compete for a role as a situational pass-rusher.

Hamlin will play special teams and could eventually replace his namesake Ken Hamlin (no relation) if everything breaks right.

Buehler will be a kickoff specialist with surprising versatility to also play gunner on special teams. (He should also inspire a lot of poor Buehler . . . Buehler . . . Buehler jokes. Like that one.)

The Cowboys now have nine of their twelve draft picks under contract. They have three left to sign before Wednesday’s first practice.

UPDATE: A league source told PFT’s Aaron Wilson that Brandon Williams received a fourth-year escalator clause with a 35-percent playing time one-timer and a 45-percent defensive team improvement in any of the subsequent seasons.

That would automatically boost the fourth-year salary to $1.308 million. The deal includes minimum base salaries of $310,000, $395,000, $480,000 and $565,000.
