Ahhh check again. Those states do not require registration.
Off the top of my head very few states do infact require registration such as HI, CA, CT and NY to name a few.

The DA in this case is simply grandstanding, trying to use this incident to look tough on crime and to show that being famous doesn’t mean you can do what you want. That all sounds great, but in reality, this is a case where celebrity is hurting the person more than helping. If the same facts applied to a person who wasn’t famous, this case likely results in little or no jail time. I know all states are different and have different laws, but in the Washington Post today, a person was charged in maryland with pointing a handgun at a police officer. His deal – plead guilty to a misdemeanor and sentenced to 100 days in jail. That crime is far worse than Plaxico’s.

Jesus, Florio, since you moved to NBC you’ve really gotten some dumb commenters, but Bob Nelson might be the dumbest after that one.
So, following your logic, it’s okay for me as a “weirdo” New Yorker to swing around a knife or an axe in public as long as I paid for it and I don’t happen to slice anyone else with it, besides myself? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Who knows with those wimpy East Coasters and weirdos in New York?
He surely learned his lesson the hard way and is very unlikely to repeat his error.
Possesion of personal property guaranteed under the Constitution should never be illegal.
