Not long ago, former NFL head coach (and current UFL head coach) Dennis Green suggested that the Dolphins would be the prime candidates to land quarterback Mike Vick.
Thereafter, G.M. Jeff Ireland declined to comment on the speculation. “That’s not my deal,” Ireland said.
But now Ireland is singing a different tune.
“We don’t have an interest,” Ireland said Tuesday. “We like the players we have on our current roster.”
So the list of possible teams for Vick is dwindling.
Anyone who actually thought the Dolphins were candidates to sign Vick must not follow the Dolphins very well.
Sorry, Mr. Dungy, Roger and NFL network. Nobody wants to take that chance.
I understand semi-illiterate players players like T.O. and Chris Johnson wanting Vick reinstated and signed but the NFL itself is beginning to look foolish.
If Roger and the NFL network keep cheer leading for Vick, they are going to damage the league. Do they not live in the real world or what?
Dungy, I understand. He has a guilt complex to clean up. Wish he wouldn’t do it in public.
Let’s play freakin’ football!
“So the list of possible teams for Vick is dwindling”
Enter the Vikings.
and that’s the rub. there are lots of younger guys who can run and throw just as well as vick. and probably do both better than a 30 year old who hasnt done any of that in 2 years.
they arent really QBs, but then, neither is/was he.
he doesnt work well with wideouts. ask those who have played with him.
the younger ones dont have the baggage he has. they arent generally trying to command the kind of contract he will want, just because they “used to be” stars.
this may well end up being the most incentive AND dis-incentive laden contractual arrangement seen in a while… assuming it happens…
strategically speaking here folks -
they just should have told him to go to the ufl for a year. let someone else eat the risk and baggage. let him prove his bonafides on someone else’s nickel. let peta etc disrupt the ufl. remain unsullied yerself. and what the media and the peecee folks and the creditors think be damned.
Florio, bring back the damn hamsters.
Pre NBC at least your site, while down ocassionally, was much more user friendly than the current NBC site.
And most importantly allowed ratings on posts.
The “feel” of the new site from a user standpoint is less desirable than before and more difficult to use.
Good. Never let that thug touch a football again.
Should Vick play in the NFL again, I make the following pledge to my local animal rescue shelter:
$10 for everytime he’s sacked
$20 for every late hit on him
$50 for every game he misses due to an onfield hit
I don’t have a lot of money but I hope to pay out a boat load. I might even be willing to sell my allegiance to another team if they end his career.
i think with pat white, this is the right choice, white is better than vick ever was talent wise, plus making him wait won’t help his nfl growth he can run the wildcat and run it well
So what happens to Vick’s reinstatement plan if no one signs him? Now, that would be funny. All dressed up and no place to go. He’d have to manage to stay out of trouble on his own.
Don’t we need a list of those who have declined interest in him?
Ditto what Desides said.
Rob, what you are proposing is vindictive and just as bad as what Vick did. You are advocating for the physical harm of another human. Is the message you’re trying to send that you’re no better than Vick?
We already kicked one Vick to the curb, so the other can scram too.
Hey Florio, I thought you said you were going to get the comment ratings back up. When’s this gonna happen? I want to give Desides a 5.
Who ever thought that was an option was an IDIOT, must have been Peter King??? we got a “superstar” with White!!! Vick is NOT a Parcells player!!! nether will White either!!!
Killer Fin
If Pat White isn’t a Parcells player then why did he draft him in the 2nd rd.? You make no sense.
