Not sure what a lot of your comments mean? I can’t decode the ebonics/Twitter or whatever that’s supposed to be.
Every time I try to end this and wrap it up, you always have more comments and insults. For a guy with all the confidence and rings you seem pretty insecure.
I admit it. You have a genius QB. Rivers makes more off-the field poor decisions. Ben’s offseason choices with motorcycles, women, and showing up in questionable shape as has been reported recently, pales in comparison to Rivers working hard in the offseason, keeping himself clean, and spending time with his wife and children. You win man. I see the light.
And numbers? It doesn’t matter that Rivers led the league in most categories. It really doesn’t. Ben led the league in the only category that matters- winning the SB.
No problem. I am a believer now. You have the better QB and the rings to prove it.

Only problem with your argument is that the one stat that TRUMPS all others is where Ben excels most…WINS. If those wins are ALL because of defense & running game then how is it that OVER 30%, of those record 59 WINS are via 4th qtr. comeback, engineered by him on 19 different occassions? Also, if you were a true fan & watched all playoff games, you would realize that he doesn’t even have the opportunity in SBXL, if not for HIS performance in the three road games that got them there, don’t believe me STAT guy? Look it up!
Response: All I am going to say is if you want o credit Ben with winning the first SB, think again. He got lucky. Sure, he played great to get his team in the game, but he played horrible in that game… he didn’t “win” the SB.
In addition, you need to be fair, as your entire argument is based on the ’08 season, & Ben still had a better year since he was crowned Champ.
Response: Please, do not say that Ben had a better season in terms of “QB” because he won the SB. Rivers was the top-rated QB for all but one week of the season I believe, Romo beat him by like 1% for one week.

Sure, let compare River’s rookie season, going 14-2, to Ben’s rookie campaign. Forget 2005 vs. 2005, compare “rookie” to “rookie” and it’s not even close.
By my count Ben has Philip in 4 of 5 yrs., but the biggest disparity between the two, besides the 2 titles of course, is that while Ben has proven to be a leader of men, Philip acts like a spoiled child on the gridiron.
Response: Rivers is a hero. He played more hurt in the AFCCC two seasons ago than any other player I can think of ever. It could of been career threatening. What’s more spoiled? Riding a motorcycle wiuthout a helmet? Isn’t that a little retarded???? And once he settles with the hotel chick, it will add even more “retard fuel” to the fire. Let’s not trade jabs about character. Rivers is a family man, he never trashes his teammates and is clean off the field. Whatever dude.
As for the receivers (WR & TE) I agree but the edge is only a slight one because of Gates, Philip has actually been the beneficiary of a bigger disparity in not only the running game but the o-line as well, over the 5 yrs. they’ve been in the league together & the Bolt D has not lacked for talent since Philip has been there either.
Response: If you are trying to say Parker isn’t a great RB, or you don’t have a sizeable advantage in WR talent, don’t know what to say to change your mind. Ask a smart fan and they’ll agree with you. LT was hurt all year which caused Rivers to have to rely on his arm even more and he ended the top-rated passer with average WRs and a banged-up LT.
One last point that too often is overlooked is the one that provides Philip with ideal weather conditions with which to operate in at least 10 games per year, while Ben plays at least 6 games in harsh weather each year. Which situation would you say is more conducive to posting the bigger fantasy numbers that you & so many others are so enamored with?
Response: If you are going to look at weather, sure I’ll grant you that. SD is gorgeous weather for football. I’ll give you that one.
I guiess we could go on and on, but we’ll just agree to disagree. Good luck this season and I’m looking forward to week 4!

Lets remember something… The host, Paul Allen, of the show that Wade was on in Minneapolis is the radio voice of the Queens. Florio has been on his show every week for I don’t know how long; he has told Allen that he is a Vikings fan. Allen drools all over himself whenever Florio is on, (Best website ever… kind of how Madden feels about Farve). Allen has said several times that he hates the Bears. Seems that he can’t take the heckling the fans give him when he is there to do a game, he really hates it when you yell at him while in the press box doing a call.(Anyone with seats near there in Chicago, keep that in mind). So is it really any big surprise that this blew up like it did. Right after Allen guaranteed that Favre would be in camp by Thursday and Favre decided to wait until he did not have to do the work and he could get even MORE attention. Allen was trying to deal with the fact that the 2 QBs they have are backups for life. The next day he was bragging about how Wade just split the Bears locker room and how happy he was. He was bragging about how Wade is his new favorite player and now they don’t have to worry about the Bears, since the offense and defense will be at each other’s throat, due to those comments. Nice try PA, “Chicago is a tough guy town” that drama only works in Minneapolis. Where’s your first round pick???

I never once put you or Ben down other than to say that Rivers is a better QB.
And he is- look at any stats you want.
You can claim I am a “Stat Boy”… but numbers are the only fair way to measure two players.
Statisically Rivers was better in every single QB category. Pittsburgh was below 20th in passing, and 24th in total offense. They have an epic defense. But the QB doesn’t play on defense.
The ONLY thing he has is rings… and I would always argue that his D brought the Steelers more glory than he did.
Rivers is just flat out better, period. Ben has had the benefit of the best supporting cast in the league.
River’s receivers pale in comparison. Ben has Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, Nate Washington, and Heath Miller. Ben has 2 super bowl MVP’s at WR!
Ben has never had to deal with the crap that Rivers had from his D. The Chargers D was one of the worst this season, they gave back 4 wins, 3 of which after Rivers lead them all the way back. Ben had the #1 D in every category.
Factor in those things, then compare stats. You’d think Ben would be head and shoulders above, but it’s not the case.

Ben won Super Bowl XLIII, in a manner that only 2 others have, by driving their team to a game winning TD in the final min. of a Super Bowl, and was it’s rightful MVP. Although you won’t admit it, you know it or you’re a FOOL…if Ben’s surname were either Brady or Manning he would have won MVP!
Now, before you start your rant about SBXL, know this; Ben’s teammates wouldn’t have been in the position to win that one for him, if he didn’t tear it up on the road to 40 (don’t take my word for it, look it up). But you you wouldn’t know that, cause most fantasy leagues don’t continue thru the playoffs & since your boy Philip (with one L) was home wishing he were B.B.R., I seriously doubt that you watched the playoffs.
59 wins in 5 years, 19 via 4th qtr. comeback, only an idiot would argue against those numbers!
Did I mention that Philip Rivers’ throwing motion is similar to my daughter’s, not EXACTLY sound mechanics, but you already knew that casue you’re an EXPERT on all things QB. Truth be told, you come off as just another TOOL who puts more emphasis on what a player can do for their fantasy team, than what they can for the team they support, otherwise you would value WINNING as much as any of us who couldn’t care less about any stat except W/L .
Jonsey, surely you know that the game of football is a team game, a brutal game & I personally put as much, if not more, emphasis on being a fan of a team that’s always been known to “punch you in the mouth” than one who’s blinded by compilers accumulating numbers. It’s a well know fact in NFL lore, that even before the AFL/NFL merger in 1970, at a time when the Steelers were considered the doormats of the league, opposing players knew that although they walked onto the field to face them, there was less certainty about whether they would be able to walk off, than whether they’d win the game, you played the Steelers, you paid your pound of flesh…I love that about my team & i’ts history, which is why you will never convince me that our QB, who makes more plays than anyone after contact, & more plays than most, all the time, is not superior to yours & I didn’t even mention that he’s WON more Super Bowls & WON more Playoff games for us than EVERY other QB in the NFL since he’s been in the league. We wouldn’t trade him for any other cause he’s like the city he represents, we’re not afraid to get dirty, if that’s what it takes to get the job done. I have to laugh when you act like Rivers’s supposed “superiority” over Ben is like some accepted fact or something.
The FACT is that Rivers is perceived as being carried his first couple years by Tomlinson, that he was the ultimate hand-off boy game manager get-out-of-the-way QB. THAT you can look up.
In his first playoff run, Ben put up 125 rating games while his running game couldn’t even manage a lousy 3 yards a carry. THAT is called carrying a team, which Rivers hasn’t proven he can do yet. So spare me the attitude.
And sorry, when you lead one of the greatest Super Bowl drives ever, you tend to get ranked a little higher than most other QBs. Maybe Rivers hasn’t had a “fair” chance to show he can do that too, but that’s not Roethlisberger’s fault.
Here’s the FACT — you poll GMs as to which QB they want after Manning or Brady, and they say Roethlisberger.
P.S. “Collectively as a unit” my butt — the Steeler run game DISAPPEARED during both Super Bowl runs. And the defense broke down at the end of the last Super Bowl. Guess who stepped up both times? Yeah you know.

It’s really great when I listen to experts who have to re-visit the 2004 draft and they ask who they’d take between Eli, Ben, and Rivers- and most people say RIVERS even though the other two guys played on teams that won a SB COLLECTIVELY AS A UNIT.
I never put down Ben or his rings. Not once. But please do not sit there in front of your computer and try to lie to yourself, let alone me.
Do some web searches about expert’s opinions on the draft, and you will find plenty of Rivers supporters.
To say that just because Ben has won the SB, that it makes him better is SO retarded on so many levels. Nobody is going to defend Marino’s legacy… or other great QBs that never won a SB. Dumb argument.
And you’ll notice that nobody except SixBurghDude, an obvious Pitt fan who would defend his boy to the end (and I can respect that, it’s the non-partials that obviously agree with me) would take your side.

Getting back on point, Wade couldn’t catch a cold in Chicago…his last season there (’05), he managed to snag 10 passes. Sadly, he also had 10 fumbles, thanks to his sparkling special-teams efforts. And the fact that he had more catches with the Vikes in ’08 than any Bears wideout is dampened by the fact that all of ‘em, even Rashied Davis, had a better average-per-catch. Though he HAS figured out how to catch, it’s not surprising that he’s still the same chicken-s*** PoS he was in Chicago. Be sure the equipment man gives you a helmet that swivels twice this year, Bobby!

Not sayin’ you don’t have a point regarding Cutler, but you won’t find many, if any, Steeler die hards that would trade Ben for Philip. As for knowing football, you like many, obviously put more emphasis on fantasy stats, than you do on winning, which ultimately is what I care about.
Btw…career passer rating Philip (92.9) Ben (89.4), big difference there, huh? Even less (Ben = 95.2) if you take Ben’s ’06 season out of the equation, since he dealt with more trauma during that season than most do their entire careers.
There is a HUGE difference in one catergory when comparing the two, leadership, where Ben’s 2 Super Bowl titles trumps anything Philip has accomplished in his career to date. To be fair, I’ll give you this: Ben fell into the Steeler’s lap, as Cowher(d) was enamored with Philip leading up to the ’04 draft, with one of the reasons being that they are fellow N.C. St. alums.
