During offseason practices, there is a lot of conjecture about who will and who won't hold out of training camp. In most cases, they show up rather than risk a hefty daily fine.Packers safety Nick Collins is one of those cases.
In fairness to Collins, his presence at Packers camp was basically expected all along.
Collins isn't happy about his contract and was noncommittal about showing to camp on time, but he was in attendance at Green Bay's mandatory minicamp last month. (He skipped most of the OTAs.)
Collins will report with the rest of his teammates on Friday. Coach Mike McCarthy didn't sound concerned about him last month, despite having a new defensive system to learn.
"I feel like his heart and mind are in the right place, and he wants to play some football," McCarthy said.
Collins is due to make $3.045 million this season, the final year of his rookie contract.
