Plaxico Burress spoke in front of a grand jury in New York City Wednesday. And spoke. And spoke some more.
On Thursday, it’s Antonio Pierce’s turn. According to ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio, Pierce will testify voluntarily in front of the same grand jury.
For months, it was believed Pierce was not at risk of facing any charges. Even now, some believe prosecutors are targeting Pierce to get him to testify against his former teammate.
But since Burress has essentially admitted the crime he’s accused for, Pierce will just give his account of the story.
Pierce allegedly brought the gun Burress used to the wide receiver’s home after the shooting.
Pierce is scheduled to report to training camp Sunday morning. And the Giants hope the distraction that Burress created late last season doesn’t stretch any further into 2009.
Kenechi Udeze of the Vikings decides to retire!!!

BELIEVE ME, IT WILL
Moosechem says: “BELIEVE ME, IT WILL”
Overlooking the fact that you’re talking out your ass and have no more knowledge of what is going in the Giants locker room than the rest of us do, the facts here are pretty simple. Plax is no longer with the team. The days of him being a constant distraction, which he was even prior to the shooting, are gone. Pierce was looking for a contract extension BEFORE this all happened and the Giants turned him down flat. Even before the shooting, it was obvious that Pierce had a year, maybe two left in NY. Pierce played so poorly at the end of the season that Chase Blackburn looked like the far better LB when he filled in for Pierce’s injury. And Chase is really just a special team player and a backup. Pierce no longer has the speed necessary to be dominate. He’s no longer necessary to NY’s success. While it would be good to get one more productive year out of him, it’s not crucial. If Pierce can’t get his head clear, Derrick Brooks is still out there and he’s just as good as Pierce is now – which means he’s past prime and slow, but serviceable.
east96thst…watching pierce trail a tight end accross the formation was a painfull thing to watch.
watching pierce play is like watching an overweight gymnist.
