Rosenfels happy Favre drama is over

If the bride doesn’t show for the wedding they still have the reception, don’t they?

They don’t?

Well, disregard that and know this — even though we’re Favreless in Mankato, there’s still stuff to cover.

Like . . . the reaction to Favre not being in Mankato.

Speaking outside his dorm as many Vikings checked in, the man twisting in the wind was pleased to be cut down.

“I’m happy it’s over with and it’s good it happened before training camp to give us an extra day to catch our breath.  Before we go to work,” Sage Rosenfels said Wednesday.

Rosenfels was asked if he was bothered that teammates lobbied Brett Favre.

“This is the NFL.  I’m a pro, those guys are pros.  I’ve been so busy that fortunately I minimized all my contact with sports stuff.  I think you’d go insane in my position keeping up with it day to day.”

[Editor's noteWelcome back to PFT Planet, Sage.]

Rosenfels isn’t interested in talking about what could have been.

“I’m not going into what could happen, what may happen, what did happen.  In these last three months, nothing happened, really.  The Minnesota Vikings are right back where we were three months ago.”

Rosenfels has every reason to be happy. Now he and Tavaris Jackson know they are fighting for the number 1 spot rather than 2 & 3. Now the team knows who they look to as their offensive signal caller. Vikings – PLEASE forget about Favre and focus on training camp!!!

The talk of Favre playing with the Vikings then opting out at the last minute could be the best thing that could have happened to Sage.
If he performs he will win over his teammates and the fans more than he would have without all the Favre talk. Plus he now has lower expectations and was under the radar all offseason (he didn’t have to deal with the “is he the Vikings answer at QB” question), which should take a lot of the pressure off him.

He thinks it’s over? Wow, is this guy naïve and to think he might be the leader of the offense. Now Vikings Fans you really have something to worry about.

Keep trying to convince yourself of that Sage. You were singing a much different tune when you had to keep answering questions during the mini-camps and OTA’s. You and everyone else know its a huge distraction going into camp and there’s major damage control to do.
Sage is an herb…Childress is a dope!

  6. JimmySmith says: Jul 29, 2009 9:25 PM

His confidence has to be shot. The Vikings traded only a 4th rounder for him, then proceed to chase Favre all off season. What do you think Sage is thinking? boy I really must suck. He does but not as much T joke so he still has a chance to play and lose in the Viking tradition.

Sage… I’m begging you PLEASE lead this team. the fans want to root for you… Good luck. You have the right attitude… this is the best opportunity you will ever have to lead a team deep in to the post-season.

Hopefully JDB can teach him some things on the bench.

“The Minnesota Vikings are right back where we were three months ago” yes, but what fun would it have been without all the media fueled speculation and dead horse beating to make Favre look that much worse…?

  11. TrueFan says: Jul 29, 2009 9:48 PM

Listen up dudes. It’s O-V-E-R. Childress tried, and he’s now done with it. Guy is NOT coming in unless BOTH starting QBs went down. Period.
Rosenfels is not “Naive”. I hope to high heaven that he is the QB, because there is NO way you can trust Jackson to have more then one good game without a total mental break-down. The guy is dumber than a box of rocks.

Tom, you do realize this is a racist comment right? You may be ignorant to this fact, but that is absolutely not an excuse. I hope your comment is retracted from your blurb.

The guy is a coward. He knows anyone can out-play Jackson. He knew he didn’t have a chance in hell of out-playing Favre though, so he whined about the competition.

I want to see John David Booty play at least once, even if he throws like 5 picks.

Sage Rosenfels should be fine at QB. I’ve liked him since I saw him play against the Huskers.

I believe the phrase you’re looking for is,” NFC North Champions”

Of course Sage is relieved Brett will not be in camp.
There is nothing more disgusting than finding a “Grey Pubic Hair.” stuck to your foot after you get out of the locker room shower.

For all you conspiracy theorists’……Favre tells Childress he will come, but only after camp, and the both of them work out this deal, that Childress will tell the local media that Favre said no, and then he will run damage control (i.e. childress says at camp the door is closed) on the team, because if anyone catches wind that childress said it is OK for him not to come to camp, alot of players will be pissed. Favre’s duty is to tell the national media that he is SOOOOOO torn, and will keep throwing, and play like he lives at the waffle house (which he does). At the end of camp, Childress says that the play from the QB position is so horrible, that he has no choice but to go back and beg Favre. How’s that for a conspiracy?? Not saying that i believe in it, but it isn’t that far stretched, when it comes to league’s foremost prima donna.
