The assumption in New York is that Mark Sanchez will finish training camp as the team’s starting quarterback.
But he won’t start there.
Kellen Clemens will start camp as the team’s number one quarterback and will get the majority of snaps with New York’s first team. For now.
Sanchez will be worked in slowly with the starters. As camp rolls on, he’ll presumably earn more time with the best players.
“This is all I’ve ever dreamed of doing and now I’m going to get a chance to do it,” Sanchez remarked upon arrival in town, the type of quote that could make him King of New York with a few wins.
Clemens’ sights are set lower. He probably needs to outplay Sanchez by a wide margin to win the starting job for Week One.
With only 16 NCAA starts, Sanchez will fold like a lawn chair in the NFL!
Sorry J-E-T-S fans you blew it!
Let Sanchez play early and often in Pre-Season. He can sit for a year and learn from Kellen Clemens and will play with more confidence next year…….?
Clemens should start this year. That would be smart.
hey boris: dunno which team they root for by you in Russia ( probably the pats… Spying on America…) but by us in America everyone has a chance to prove himself. Joe flacco was a backup and he had to go down a level to start and look at him now!! Sanchez is much better off coming outta USC. I have my doubts but I’m not willing to write him off.
Dirty sanchez is gonna suck the jets will never learn how to draft.
Didn’t we see this a couple years ago with Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn?
“He can sit for a year and learn from Kellen Clemens ”
Awesome.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Matt Cassel had zero NCAA starts, and he just led the Patriots to an 11-5 record.
BRING VICK!!!
NOTHING TO LOSE!!!
clemens will manage the game, but he wont win it
jury is out on sanchez
vick not doing good, cut him and throw sanchez in halfway
its not as though jets have super bowl asperations this year, team with too many ifffffs.
or bring in matt jones and let him play every position on offense.

Only a Jets fan would compare the Pats offensive weapons to their own and think they are anywhere within the same stratosphere.
The Pats have a very impressive offensive arsenal while you guys, well, not-so-much.
If you would have put Cassel on your team instead of Favre, you guys still would have sucked and he would be looking for a new job this year.
I dislike both the Jets and Pats but you gotta give props where they are due and the only place you guys are going with Sanchez is the cellar of the AFC East.
