The floodgates officially opened today, with a flurry of first-round signings that has resulted most recently in an agreement between defensive tackle Peria Jerry and the Atlanta Falcons.
The news comes from the Falcons’ official web site.
Terms were not disclosed, but it’s presumably a five-year deal.
Jerry was the 24th overall pick in round one. He’s still only the tenth first-rounder to agree to terms, but look for more agreements to come soon.

How do the commentors think he’s gonna do in the NFL? Madden 10 apparently has him finishing second in offensive rookie of the year balloting. But the Card O-line sucks at run blocking. Hightower is a great short distance runner, but he finished in the bottom third in yards per carry. How well prepared is Wells to adapt quickly to the speed of the NFL? Will it take a year or two, or will he hit the ground running?
I dislike college football, so I know next to nothing about the guy except he was injury prone. I do know the guy comes with tremendous upside, but will he tap into that?

I was starting to worry whether or not they would sign this guy. I remember he hurt his knee during OTAs. They played it down as a minor injury but you haven’t heard crap about him since then. When they drafted him it was Jerry this, Jerry that, Jerry is a good ole boy.

As much as I like to let my team do their talking on the field and not brag and boast, I must say that I am VERY excited for this season. Yeah we have a tough schedule, but the rest of the teams in our division play almost the same schedule, so obviously all we have to do is win the division and the sky’s the limit! I can see that Lombardi trophy in our grasps if not this year, then next…
