Pressure building on Marvin Harrison

In past years at this specific juncture of the calendar, the sweat on Marvin Harrison’s brow resulted from running pass patterns at training camp.

This year, he’s likely sweating for a much different reason.

According to David Gambacorta of the Philadelphia Daily News, police have served a search warrant at Harrison’s aptly-named “Playmakers” bar for evidence relating to the July 21 septuple-shooting of Dwight Dixon.

Specifically, police hope to review the bar’s surveillance tapes to see whether the gunman was in the establishment prior to the shooting.

A separate surveillance camera shows a six-foot black man wearing a dark hooded jacket, jeans, and white sneakers firing the bullets that hit Dixon, who previously sued Harrison for allegedly shooting Dixon in April 2008.

The July 21 incident occurred only two blocks north of Harrison’s bar.

Dixon reportedly told police before slipping into a coma that he believes Harrison arranged the shooting.  Dixon has been unconscious following ten hours of surgery, and police have not yet been able to interview him.

We have no idea how any of this is going to turn out.  But unless and until Harrison is fully exonerated, I’ve got a better chance of playing in the NFL this year than he does.

    T.O. is way better – as a person – that this guy. He never hangs arouund with thugs and never been caught doing any of these stuff.
    Marvin behaves well on the field and this is what he does off the field? Shame on him.

    Harrison needs to learn how to aim.

  8. hayward giablommi says: Jul 30, 2009 11:01 AM

    Yeah, great idea to give Marvin a free pass and not prosecute him after that guy got shot last year.
    If he had anything to do with Mr. Dixon’s shooting last year, was given a free pass despite a plethora of evidence against him, and then arranged ANOTHER shooting, then the D.A.’s office needs to be held accountable.
    No wonder Killadelphia is such a war zone.

    Harrison looks like a librarian. Crazy to think of him as some glock toting thug. And he is a piss poor shot. Or the other dude is made of kevlar.

    Marvin Harrison is really Avon Barksdale.

    Let’s all just hope that an arrogant, self-centered, millioinaire athlete can finally catch a break for once!
    I, for one would hate to see Harrison sentenced to the torturous hell of 20 days of house – actually stupefyingly luxurious mansion – arrest.

    @ hayward
    Forgot to mention a past Patsy injury that prevented them from winning a Super Bowl, relative to this story, but it’s no doubt on the way!

    My thing is, if he already thinks harrison either shot him or hired someone to shoot him once, why the hell go back to his bar?

    I think Florio has nothing to say against ESPN, because both of them have the same moral, credibility, standards… Florio is just a Colts hater, who can’t even write an unbiased article about Harrison. There are facts, aspects of this case which should be pointed out. For example Dixon’s past. Also with Nixon being a witness in the case, Dixon’s death solves nothing. Harrison has nothing to gain and everything to lose, if he does anything against Dixon…Etc.

    Guilty until proven innocent! There’s something wrong with that. (On a side note, if he is guilty, and didn’t get rid of said tapes, what the hell was he thinking?)

  18. Patsfan1776 says: Jul 30, 2009 12:42 PM

    I love the innocent until proven guilty crowd. In the grand scheme you are either innocent or guilty depending on whether or not you have committed an act. It really has nothing to do with being “found guilty or not guilty” in legal proceedings.

    Can anyone out there please translate the meaning of this jibberish or tell me how it relates to Marvin Harrison trying to off people? Anyone?

    “Marvin Harrison is really Avon Barksdale”
    …hey CLEANFACE, that’s absolutely perfect!

    Heywood,
    Saying Harrison got a “free pass” from the DA is stupid. If no one would cooperate, the DA would be a fool to arrest him – he’d end up like O.J. with double jeopardy protection. As for the “plethora” of evidence against him, have you seen it? A security video of a hooded man shooting another man – and that implicates Harrison how? Oh, of course, it was only two blocks from his bar/car wash empire.

    does anyone know the motive as to why this guy is being shot?
    i bet harrison wishes he took the lesser amount the colts offered him earlier this year.

    Then who is Marvin’s Stringer? ..Certainly not Plax, he can be Poot. Stupid ass Poot.

  29. Colts420Ravens says: Jul 30, 2009 10:18 PM

    I’ve got most of the cast..
    Marvin = Avon
    Ray Lewis – Stringer
    Vick = Marlow
    Pacman = Bodie
    Plax = Poot
    Matt Jones = White Mike
    Kerry Collins = McNulty
    Peyton = Carcetti
    T.O. could be Snoop cuz he whines like A Bitch
    I was also gonna say Big Ben Could be Omar because he’s a fag, but since he’s a rapist he’s probably not gay.
