DOES ROONEY TAKE VICK FOR THE STEELERS BECAUSE OF THE RACE ANGLE?
The famous Rooney Rule has virtually catapulted Dan Rooney to sainthood in the NFL. It was rumored that he may have chosen Mike Tomlin over Russ Grimm for head coach even when people inside the organization were pushing for Grimm because it would set a good example of how he is practicing what he is preaching. And look how great that has worked out.
Now Michael Vick is trying to return to the NFL and there is a huge divide on how White-America and how Black-America view him. Vick is still reviled by a huge amount of white Americans. Despite “doing his time” it would be safe to say that most white Americans still have not forgiven him for his heinous crimes against animals. They will forever see him as a thug, a gang-banger, a felon that does not deserve a second chance.
However, it is my guess that most black Americans see Vick differently. They view him as a common, typical black man who made a mistake in his young life and is now trying to rebuild that life up. They acknowledge that he did something very wrong but point to how he has paid for his crime. Many black NFL players have vocally come to Vick’s defense (T.O., Chris Johnson, etc…) and Whoopie Goldberg came to his defense even when this story broke 2 yrs ago. If Vick is “blackballed” by the NFL, they will view it as racist business as usual – The White Man keeping the black man down while white guys like Steve “Cokehead” Howe gets 7 chances to earn a living.
This is where Rooney steps in. He was recently named Ambassador to Ireland by our first black president.. He has earned an image as a white man in power that most blacks trust. And I believe, he will be and may already have been approached by political powers behind the scene (DeMaurice Smith, Goodell, NAACP, Jesse Jackson, etc… and maybe even Obama) to have the Steelers allow Vick to return to the NFL.
Yes, he knows that the Steelers do not need Vick but Vick needs the Steelers and Black-America needs to see Michael Vick get a second chance … and succeed. There is no place for him to succeed better than the Steelers.
I see Michael Vick signing with the Steelers due to powers much higher than GMs or player personnel managers. MICHAEL VICK WILL BE A STEELER BECAUSE OF POLITICAL REASONS!

Here are the teams that have not yet come out publically to say that they are not interested in Vick.
new england
pittsburgh
cleveland
baltimore
jacksonville
tennessee
denver
san diego
chicago
green bay
new orleans
arizona
I think Chicago is out because they just got Cutler and the last thing they want to do is bring another QB in to take the headlines.
I think Denver is out because they have had enough controversy already. They definitely do not need more.
Arizona is out because they have a soft fan base and are too scared to upset them even a little.
Tennessee is out because they have Vince Young who is a clone of Vick.
That leaves:
new england
pittsburgh
cleveland
baltimore
jacksonville
san diego
green bay
new orleans
Out of those, I think Baltimore or New Orleans is the favorite to get Vick.

1)Vick received a dogfighting conviction which was based on the cruelty displayed towards animals…………not because of the gambling aspect………can you read?????

If you really want to end dog fighting than Vick playing in the NFL is probably the best way to bring light to the subject. Bottom line is whether sincere or not he will be an example of what can happen if you engage in the activity and will probably spend a lot of time “rallying” against it. It doesn’t matter what his motives are if the results are positive, it is a good thing.

Vick went to jail for illegal gambling, not for killing dogs. And – re-read dbennett3899′s comment and then my comment. I was asking that d-bag WHO he was talking about, since NEITHER of them served time for animal cruelty/killing dogs. Do I have to spell it out? If everyone had to spell out everything for some of the half-wits that come to this site, each comment would be two pages long.

Sounds like a perfect fit for the Vikings then. Losing half of a non-existent fan base that can’t even sellout their first home playoff game in 10 years isn’t much of a net loss. Plus, it will make it that much easier for Wilf to move the team to LA in 2011 like he most surely will do.

Minnesota is most desperate for any kind of a QB.
Vick will have no problem being their starter.
No worries about protests, the ownership group doesn’t live in Minnesota.
They have to do something to generate publicity.
Vick will be a great fit in Minnesota.

The biggest difference between Stallworth and Vick…
Stallworth wasn’t driving around drunk looking for someone to kill with his car. He did something incredibly stupid that cost another foolish person his life(you gotta look before you cross).
Vick knew exactly what he was doing and showed no compassion for those dogs.
Add to this that most dogs are better people than the majority of humans and you can see why this upsets people so much.
If Minnesota had actually landed Butt Farte, I would have grumbled alot, but I still would have rooted for my team every sunday. IF they bring in Vick, I write the season off and hope he’s gone next year. I believe he’s served his time and has the right to pursue a career in football. I also have the right to support the team as I see fit. I will not root for a dog killer. Hell, I walk out of movies if they kill the dog and that’s not even real. No way I support my team if they put this dirt bag on the field.

You forgot to mention the drugs that get sold at the concession stand, as well as the gambling loans and such. Don’t forget about the beatings for those who don’t pay their debts. Sometime they have them as an opening act to remind the audience that you don’t screw over the house. If your lucky, they’ll even break into your home, shoot you, and leave you for dead. They also advertise with public beatings of those who forgot to pay the house back, and pass out fliers to the next show.

I don’t follow the bleeding hearts of PETA, I love meat and think that animal testing to benefit human life is fully justified. I just don’t like thugs torturing animals for their own sick amusement. I don’t like getting lumped in with the likes of PETA, and I’m sure people like me don’t, either.

Who are you talking about? Neither of them got two years for animal cruelty.
I wish there was a way to get into the brains of dumb people and insert facts and remove stupidity. How many times does it need to be repeated?…. Michael Vick DID NOT serve any prison time for animal cruelty and/or killing dogs.
