Zorn expects "dramatic impact" from Haynesworth

As if justifying his $100 million contract at a time when everyone expects him to go soft because of it weren't enough, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth's new coach is writing checks out of Haynesworth's football account.

"Albert will have a dramatic impact," Jim Zorn said Thursday.

(We assume Zorn isn't referring to anything Haynesworth might do while driving a car really, really fast.)

"It may not be seen in tackles or sacks but it is going to be seen in how an offense prepares for us.  You are going to see other guys making plays, and you're going to think they are having a great year, but some of that is going to be Albert creating problems on the line of scrimmage."

We agree, but only if Albert hasn't grown soft and content now that he's gotten the huge payday for which he spent the past two seasons busting his butt in Tennessee.

A dramatic impact on the team refrigerator maybe.

That first paragraph was a nightmare, Florio. Don't you have time to take a class? Now that you have "donated" all the excess copies of your first self-published book and sold yourself to the highest bidder, you should have the money and time to step up your game.

you robbed us, the peanut gallery, of the driving cars really fast/dramatic impact comment. I hope you are proud of yourself, MR. FLORIO! You now operate on the same mental level as a drycleaning tycoon.

It's a step up, good for you.

By dramatic impact does he mean that Haynesworth will turn up fat and unmotivated and sink the skins and Zorns once promising coaching career by week 4.

That's nice. Usually it's the guy who isn't confident in his abilities making pre-emptive excuses.

"Ok, we can play Madden, but I probably won't do very well....I hurt my thumb today."

Also, what stat measures "how offenses prepare for us"? Is that an escalator bonus in his contract?

I love your comments ladies, but Haynesworth is going to have a great season, he is the best DT in the game, add that to a defense that was 4th in the NFL despite being 28th in sacks, I'm willing to bet we won't be 28th in that catagory this year. HAIL

I would hope so, considering they are paying him the GDP of some small countries...

Zorn was probably ASKED by the media, "what do you expect from Haynesworth?"

As a coach, yeah he's going to talk his players up. Unless the coach is Bill Parcells.

    Dramatic impact? He better!

Having said that, being a Skins fan I have never heard Haynesworth actually speak, or never really payed attention to what he has said in the past until he came to the Skins. The dude has a voice that reminds me of Steve Urkel. Nothing wrong with that, just funny to see a huge 100 million dollar DT that sounds like Steve Urkel.

I love having Dan Snyder in this league as an owner. I need a good laugh now and then.

redskin pete, you are dumb. Haynesworth is one of the most overated plaers in the NFL. The only reason he has had so muck success is because he has had one of the best defensive squads in football around him to make gaps in the line and to back him up. This year he will be a big fat nothing.

  13. DarthPirate says: July 31, 2009 1:24 AM

Dan Snyder is Al Davis junior.

And no, not the good Al Davis that won 3 rings.

4th ranked defense in the NFL last year, add one of the best DT in the league and boooyaaaaa! Hail bitches!

Haynesworth will fail. It is the signing that you dread every off season. Overspending on a player that will not produce. The nice thing about being a skins fan you get to see it a lot.

Brandonchamness - are you slow? any one person with any football knowledge will tell you that Haynesworth is the most dominating DT in the game. HE made the Tennessee defense what it was, and you will see that once they don't have him for a full season. they could stay afloat for a few games here or there, but there D will be nowhere near as good for a full season.

the only reason people are knocking AH is because of the $$$ he got. well, if somebody threw that contract at you, would you take it? i sure as hell would.

an already stellar defense just added one of the top 3 defensive players in the league (D. Ware and Ed Reed are nasty as well), and people still seem to think it will have a minimal impact. well, i guess we'll find out!

As a lifelong Skins fan, there is one big problem I've always had with the Haynesworth signing...and it has nothing to do with Haynesworth.

Two names make me shudder about this situation...

    Dana Stubblefield and Dan Wilkinson

Stubblefield moreso...because he had his big year...got his big contract...and did absolutely NOTHING for the Skins.

Wilkinson was already an under-achiever when he got here...so it didn't surprise that he didn't step up. Although he was definitely a better addition than Stubblefield.

Hope Haynesworth is as good as advertised.

Detecting some salty anti Skins undertones in this post. So Florio are you a Redskins hater? It seems theres always some extra negative wit deployed when posting news on them. Don't care really because opinions are like assholes. Looking forward to seeing Paynesworth causing damages this year regardless of his need for speed. Kick the tires and light the fires hambro.

Keep the low expectations coming. The more the Redskins fly in under the radar, in the midst of low expectations, the more likely they will be the surprise of the year.
