As it turns out, the prospect of Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman becoming the starter in 2009 didn’t result in the type of exorbitant contractual demands that resulted in a lengthy holdout, which in turn would have made it impossible for Freeman to become the starter in 2009.
According to John Clayton of ESPN.com, Freeman and the Buccaneers agreed to terms on a five-year, $36 million deal. The contract includes $10.245 million in guaranteed money.
Freeman signed the contract near midnight so that he could fully participate in the team’s first day of training camp on Friday.
The agreement puts all Tampa draft picks under contract as camp begins.
Damn you got up early Mike. Can’t sleep?
This is gonna go down as on the worst signings ever. The dude is a bust in the making. He wasn’t all that good in college. When Jay Cutler was in college he was lighting it up all the time and making a name for himself but I never once heard from this guy until Raheem the Dream started hyping this guy up. I really hope that this kid is the real deal, but I just don’t envision that happening. The Bucs should’ve drafted fro defensive help and not a QB. GO Luke McNoun for the starting QB for the Bucs.
Everyone heard of Cutler because he was lighting it up in the SEC… no one heard of Flaco before last year.
I think the guy has a TON of potential, and I’m glad he signed. It’s better than alot of other first round rookies can say.
It is either going to go down one of two ways; Morris and Dominik are geniuses (I doubt) OR one of the Dumdest GM and coach in the NFL (which unfortunately I have a feeling will be the outcome). I am really hoping that these two have not just made the Bucs the laughing stock of the NFL. Hopefully the rumors are true and Morris is just their until one of the elite quality coaches become available. If not, this team is on an express train right back to the 80′s and early 90′s – Remember The Yucks!
I was so pleased the Bucs drafted this guy at #17, because logic would have assumed they’d draft a defensive player at that spot. DT Peria Jerry came to mind at the time, defensive tackle was a Buc area of need, and he fell to #24 for the Atlanta Falcons. Quite pleasing to me, despite his age, he’s almost 25 years old, but his strength and more importantly quickness was needed after relying on big Grady Jackson for a few years. Peria Jerry could wind up being a steal.
Shocked that they drafted Josh Freeman, but whatever. Luke McCown seems like a good prospect.
Greater than: >
Less than:
Is there some glitch that the “greater than” and “less than” symbols don’t always show up properly? I’ll keep givin’ it the ‘ole college try! Here’s an equation I know works properly:
Florio = nimrod
GO FALCONS!
Atlanta Falcons > 31 other NFL teams
-2 Florio “Henway” Jr.
Peter King Lucky Charms
Time to go back to singing songs.
Hit songs > a poke in the eye with a sharp stick

I understand your worries, in fact, I share some of them. But the reason you’ve never heard of Freeman is that he played in the weaker division of the Big 12. I’m sure you never heard of Darren Sproles or Jordy Nelson before they were drafted. I’m guessing you had never heard of Trent Dilfer, when we drafted him outta Fresno St. So lets not blame this kid because you have a myopic understanding of college football.
