Leon Washington shows up in New York

The Leon Washington holdout has ended, at all of one day.

According to the official Jets Twitter page, Washington is with the team at practice.

Washington didn’t show up Thursday for the start of training camp, which consisted of meetings and no on-field work.

Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger recently reported that Washington could have a new deal by the weekend.

The fourth-year tailback wants a new contract to replace a deal that currently will pay him only $535,000 in 2009.

    Smart move, Leon.
You make a one-day statement, then get to work.

Can you let us know who was his agent who failed to get him reachable escalators in his fourth year. Thanks.

Florio, do you think Pat White is going to holdout even though the floor (Everett brown) and ceiling (Clint sintim) have been established for his slotted 2nd round contract? Given he’s the 1st QB in the history of the NFL selected to play in the wildcat, doesn’t his unique situation give him added negotiating leverage? I imagine a big part of Miami’s offseason plans were predicated on the evolution of the wildcat, which may have precluded the fins from acquiring big time WRs this offseason because they figured an advanced wildcat would generate enough offense without the headache and cap hit caused by some diva WR. Therefore, can’t Pat White be considered to be amongst the most indispensable offensive players selected this draft? Pat White and his people probably know this, which may result in a lengthy holdout since Bill Parcells isn’t known to bend for 2nd round picks. Yout thoughts on your favorite player?

Oh, it’s just Leon Washington. I was expecting to hear that Brett Favre decided to return to the Jets.

    Dear Leon,
You are under contract for this your 4th year with the Jets. I understand that you are unhappy and want a new contract to replace the $535K your scheduled to earn this year on the original contract that you personally agreed to and signed 3 years ago.
Well, go out and freakin’ earn your new contract this year and stop your whining!!
If this doesn’t meet with your approval, please hold out at a cost to you of $17K a day.
    Best Regards,
    Jets Management

Jets will be lucky to get 4 or 5 wins this year.
