More squashing of the Vick rumors

It seems like every Bostonian with the “Whiner Line” on speed dial has claimed to see Michael Vick frolicking in the metro area Friday.

Or they have a friend named Sully with a wicked good connection up in Foxborough who knows Vick is there.

But as Florio pointed out recently, Vick was actually in Virginia Friday for a bankruptcy hearing.

And if that doesn’t convince you, our own Tom Curran says, “You can rule out that Michael Vick is in the building with the Patriots
now. You can also rule out that he was there earlier in the day or that he will
be there later.”

Curran doesn’t believe it will happen at a later date for two primary reasons:

1. He doesn’t fit their system as a player.

2. He isn’t good business for the Kraft family brand.

ESPN’s Tim Graham also crosses the Patriots off Vick’s possible go to list.

So while we appreciate the boost in Friday afternoon traffic these Vick rumors have provided, it looks like there is nothing to see here folks.

Sully can go back to focusing on trade deadline action in that other sport.

What a waste of time………Now, PFT will have to go back to it’s “Pin the tail on the NFL donkey”, for it’s next thrilling chapter in the “Where will Vick go Saga”…….You know….I think Vick and Tomlin are from the same “hood”…….Run with that….

    What gives?

First off let me say Curran is one of the most annoying people on NFL N’s Top 10 shows. Florio, actually, not so much.
Now, Vick could absolutely fit “their system” McDaniels isn’t coaching there anymore so his offense is gone and they could very well have all kinds of new wrinkles, so let’s not pretend that’s 100% accurate
However, Kraft is a family driven business, and it would definitely be bad for business in today’s economy to do anything controversial in association with a company that is in competition, during mommy’s grocery shopping, with cheaper store brand products. I would imagine that actually has a lot more to do with Vick not fitting in with the Pats.

Funny how I pointed this out earlier and even provided the article and link, yet it didn’t show up in the other comment section. WTF? Who monitors the posts on this site and what do they have against some of us knowing the truth before you guys do?

All it would take would be for Belicheater to tell Bob Kdrunkraft that he could utilize him as a weapon and he’s signed.

    Teams still in Vick’s radar:
    Pittsburgh
    Baltimore
    Cleveland
    San Diego
    Jacksonville
    Green Bay
    New Orleans

I guess employing the only coach to get caught cheating is “good business”? Kraft is as sleazy as his head coach so what’s stopping the guy from hiring a dog killer? Moral standards? You’ve got to be kidding me.

  12. stonethrower says: Jul 31, 2009 4:05 PM

why don’t the faiders get it over with and sign the dog fighter already.
Everyone in the league knows that’s where he belongs and where he has the best chance of “fitting in”
Plus JaMarcuss Russell has already shown up to camp overweight. He’s a bust waiting to happen and ookie needs a starting spot for a team that…well let’s face it, is down with the dogs.

  14. endzoneview says: Jul 31, 2009 4:11 PM

Umm, couldn’t Vick be in Virginia in the morning and be in New England in a couple of hours?

  15. sabotslugs43 says: Jul 31, 2009 4:11 PM

But good business is putting in a Bass Pro Shop at Patriot Place whos entire business is selling products that are arguably geared toward the unethical treatment of animals. Clearly that and Mr. Vick are at two opposite ends of the spectrum but still.

    SQUASHING of rumors?
    Surely you mean QUASH.
One SQUASHES a bug. One QUASHES a rebellion.

  19. BP says: Jul 31, 2009 4:27 PM

Dillon and Moss weren’t exactly the Kraft family brand either. Kraft has said he doesn’t want thugs. That implies doing things to humans. As far as humans, Vick seems to have a clean record. Maybe Kraft is a cat person.
Belichick can make anybody fit his system, if the talent comes cheap enough. They drafted a Vicklike player this year.
And BB didn’t nix the possibility when he had the chance.

“Miamiherald – Three years ago, the idea of Michael Vick and Tom Brady on the same roster would have been unfathomable. Today, it could become a reality. Vick is currently working out for the Patriots staff at Gillette Stadium, a very reliable NFL source just told me. The source said, as of 3:30 p.m., Vick was on the field attempting to display that he remains one of the most athletic players the NFL had seen prior to his arrest. Keep in mind, I’ve kept a close eye on ProFootballTalk.com, and I also read Tom Curran’s comments about the matter (“You can rule out that Michael Vick is in the building with the Patriots now. You can also rule out that he was there earlier in the day or that he will be there later.”) As a result, I have continued to peck at my source, asking the person multiple times in multiple conversations to check and re-check the information. And while I have the utmost respect for Curran’s reporting, I’m now comfortable enough to go with this based on a forwarded e-mail I received from that source. A second source has now also confirmed it.”

    Good call florio.

Ahhhh………. Robert Kraft has nothing to do with Kraft Foods. He made his money in the packaging and paper business before buying the Pats. He also is involved in radio and TV ownership.
So mommy can buy whatever generic brand she wants and Bob will remain unscathed.

Who the hell really cares? Must we now read about Vick on MSNBC like we read about Favre on MSNBC for months and months. Get a life. We really don’t give a crap.

“Vick could absolutely fit “their system” McDaniels isn’t coaching there anymore so his offense is gone”
You should actually know what you’re talking about when you post. It has always been Belichick’s system, McDaniels just ran it damn well. The offensive system is the same that we’ve been running for years and will continue to run as long as Belichick is there.
Vick is scum and will never be a Patriot.

  25. Raiders757 says: Jul 31, 2009 7:29 PM

    @ stonethrower
The better question is when are you going to “get it over with”? We’re tired of the same old spew from idiots like you. The sooner you stop wasting space in this planet, the better.
