Pats say Vick wasn't in Foxborough

The ping (beer) pong match that unfolded today regarding rumors and reports linking quarterback Mike Vick to the Patriots finally has prompted a response from the team.

And the Patriots say that Vick did not come to Foxborough.

Team spokesman Stacey James told Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald that Vick was not in town working out for the Patriots — and that Vick won’t be.

The rumors began this morning, with rampant e-mails and Internets accounts of folks who claimed they saw Vick at Logan Airport in Boston.  Equivocal comments from coach Bill Belichick regarding the team’s potential interest in Vick served only to fuel the rumors.

A local sports web site then said that Vick was indeed in town and meeting with the Patriots.

An Associated Press report regarding a hearing in Vick’s pending bankruptcy case put him in Virginia, knocking down the “Vick is in Boston” rumors.

Tom Curran echoed the notion that Vick didn’t make an appearance in Boston or Foxborough or New England on Friday, which seemed to put the issue to rest.

But then Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald reported that Vick is in New England, after all.

As a result, we feel like we’ve been playing ping (beer) pong all afternoon.

But we kind of like the feeling.  So we’re kind of rooting for a rumor that Belichick has been spotted in Eastern Virginia.

And now 10 percent of you will have read that last sentence to mean that there’s a rumor that Belichick has been spotted in Eastern Virginia.

Hey, these rumors don’t start themselves.

I’ve been trying to tell you, he’s going to Baltimore. Better get Wilson snooping around.

Recording defensive signals that everyone can see for use at a later time: Not too bad…fine worthy, sure, but nothing earth shattering.
Claiming your TV is broken and raping the woman you tricked into looking at it: Vile scum. Worse than what Michael Vick did by about a million.
They don’t call him Ben Rapistberger for nothing!

I hope vick doesn’t electricute Brady to get the starting job. Brady better watch his back!

I have been reading your site daily for a year and a half and this line…
As a result, we feel like we’ve been playing ping (beer) pong all afternoon.
was funny enough to make me sign up and make a comment. And then I realized that I read it wrong. I thought you were admitting to actually playing beer pong all afternoon. That would have been cooler. Nice site you’ve got here anyway. Keep up the good “work”.

    1. Jeff Darlington has amended his report.
    2. No one wants Vick but no one wants anyone else to get him either.

If adding Vick means taking the ball out of Brady’s hands, that’s cool with me!
I thought the wildcat was a gimmick used by teams who couldn’t do sh!t as a real offense?

“As a result, we feel like we’ve been playing ping (beer) pong all afternoon”.

You play this game all year round.

Hey newbie Eagles fan posting above me – welcome aboard. You can beer pong or not. This is still the best football site around. I’ve been coming here for about five years and Florio still makes me spit on my monitor sometimes.
    Signed,
A dedicated Pats fan, unless they sign that dog-killing, assclown, douchebag MV!

Hey, isn’t eastern Virgina where Vick is currently staying?
I don’t know if anyone’s made the connection , but since Belichick was seen there, suppose he ‘s visiting Vick?

If I had to guess where Vick is going I would pick a team where financially it is VERY important to get wins to put asses in the seats. I would rule out Patriots, Steelers, Giants, etc. that have a wating list for season tickets.
Or a situation like if the Cowboys head into their bye week at 1-4 or 2-3 he will sign there.

If Vick does go to the Cheatriots can the media actually slobber over two knobs at the same time?
    Brady’s knob AND Vick’s?

  18. screaming sheep says: Jul 31, 2009 7:12 PM

He’s just a little slow. We’ll call him special. Thats right, Belichick was in Eastern Virginia, he was with a man in a cape.

  19. ejb says: Jul 31, 2009 7:25 PM

barstool sports has as much sports talk as you guys have baseball talk

  20. footballisking says: Jul 31, 2009 7:39 PM

Point for Belichick he played the media again….the only players that he has ever said anything negative about are Fred Mitchell and Anthony Smith…everyone else no1 truely knows how he feels ofcourse he isnt going to come out one way or the other and state his opinion on vick….he is getting the media back for all the negative tom brady stories this offseason paybacks are hell :)

  21. JaggedMark says: Jul 31, 2009 8:51 PM

But I thought Darlington cited a “very reliable source”, that stated Vick was in Foxboro practicing.
Some reliable source. Who was the source, Chris Mortenson?

  22. JoeSixPack says: Jul 31, 2009 9:28 PM

Wait a second. Are you trying to tell me that the “high level NFL source” sparking these rumors (also known as Ben Roethlisberger’s agent) was lying?
What ever could his motivation be?

  23. Bob Loblaw says: Jul 31, 2009 10:16 PM

Maybe that was Marcus Vick who showed up in bankruptcy court today.

  24. Rasputin says: Aug 1, 2009 2:17 AM

Vick wasn’t in Foxboro … Favre was.

  25. HI-HO says: Aug 1, 2009 7:25 AM

nfl is giving free rooster spot to steelers…so that they don’t have to cut someone, who can play the whole season…

  26. patsSB44champs says: Aug 1, 2009 10:58 AM

I don’t want Vick playing for the Pats. People already hate them enough as it is, seeing as jealous folks still refer to Belichick as “Belicheat” and so forth. If we sign Vick, people will call Belichick “Dog Killer.”
He should go to the Steelers. He would fit right in with punks like Ward, Harrison, and Tomlin.

  27. stanjam says: Aug 1, 2009 12:52 PM

Wait, what was Bill doing in Virginia while Favre was in Foxborough?

  28. SixBurghDude says: Aug 4, 2009 10:17 AM

no doubt looking like the deplorable douche bag that he is
