Kraft closes door on Vick

As if there was any doubt regarding the Patriots’ lack of interest in quarterback Mike Vick, owner Bob Kraft has plainly stated that Vick won’t be joining the team.

Several readers tell us (and Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe tweets) that Kraft told Sirius NFL Radio that it’s not happening.

The quote (possibly paraphrased) is as follows:  “I feel we have the best player at the position in the world.  Why would I want to sign a player that takes him off the field for a play?”

Though Kraft’s words don’t take into account the possibility of another season-ending injury, multiple ACLs would have to tear before Vick would hit the Pats’ radar screen.

UPDATE:  Here’s the precise quote, from our friends at Sirius . . . “For us that’s an academic problem because we’ve got the #1 player at
that [QB] position in the world as far as I’m concerned and why would ever want
to do anything that would take him off the field for one play?”  Said a league source in response:  “That’s not good news for the Pats’ contract negotiator.”

not convincing; doesn’t swear on Belichick’s life, or Brady’s knee that he’s not interested, so it’s completely meaningless

    Pats are my team
    Brady’s my man

Not exactly closing the door. Maybe the Hoodie will tell him why…

    It’s a shame.
Had the Patriots acquired Michael Vick, and the new Madden game was updated accordingly, the Patriots would have been UNSTOPPABLE on the video game.
I think it’s a mistake to not sign Vick. So what if he takes Brady off the field for a play? The wildcat is the wave of the future and I can’t think of any player who would fit the position of wildcat quarterback better than Vick.
Talk about breaking offensive records. Oh well.

Not if it was a sneak attack. A sneak attack is worse than both of those combined.

    2005 6-2 then 2-6.

his connections to gambling ought to be looked at even closer.
all these morons who think vick is a living legend better rethink which sport he is a living legend in. it isnt football.

When do you play Mike Vick on the Pats?
3rd down? Really? You are going to take one of the greatest QBs in the history of the game out on 3rd down for Michael Vick? Really Pat fans? Think about that for a second.

    First UFL game this year.
    Brett Favre vs. Michael Vick
Better TV ratings than “He hate me”‘s first XFL game.

You mean the best player at listening to stolen defensive schemes?

So Kraft is drunk and wrong.
But it’s good to see we are closer to 0/32

    Echoed-thank you Mr. Kraft!
Gotta love the guy who talked about Brady dumping his pregnant GF. If you had publicly said you didn’t want kids or marriage puyet as he had, and the chick goes 3 years w/o getting preggers then what would you do if she pulled the goalie because the relationship wasn’t proceeding towards marriage & kids as SHE publicly stated that she wanted? That’s what it looks like happened, she oopsied on purpose. Would you marry her anyway? It’s a pretty shitty way to manipulate a man, involving an innocent baby to try to trap him.

    - You really need some new league sources.
Anyone who follows the game knows that Bob Kraft thinks Brady is the best in the league.

AND unlike other big time QBs, brady hasnt broken the bank… so NE can sign other big time players.

If Brady was an “enlarged head” QB, he would have been the highest paid player years ago.
It’s so refreshing to have a great player, one who is all about winning, and doesn’t take “Show me the money” to heart!!!

This source must have been from the Pop Warner league.
