The stalemate between the San Francisco 49ers and first-round wide receiver Michael Crabtree continues with no signs of a compromise in sight at this time.
According to Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, Crabtree’s agent, Eugene Parker, and the 49ers remain at an impasse in ongoing contract negotiations.
Citing a league source, Maiocco reports that the 49ers aren’t inclined to give in to the Crabtree camp’s demands.
Per the report, Crabtree is seeking a contract that rates among the top five selections in the draft.
However, Crabtree, a former Texas Tech star and consensus All-American selection, was drafted 10th overall.
Hence, there’s a basic disconnect between the two sides.
So it doesn’t look like Crabtree will be reporting to training camp anytime soon, barring some kind of major breakthrough in talks.
But Darrius Heyward-Bey has been in camp since Thursday. . . . ahem.
this is why we need a rookie salary cap like they have in the NBA. If the 49er’s give in to Crabtree’s demands, then it will drastically drive up the money for everyone picked near him. When does it stop? How much guaranteed money do you want to pay a player who hasn’t played a down in the NFL? The draft is a crap shoot as it is. Crabtree was selected 10th overall.
Maybe if he didnt come off as another prima dona WR, he would have been selected higher and could have received more money. He has no leverage here.
I cant blame the guy for thinking about his family and financial future early in his non NFL career. He knows he can play football…he wants to eventually play football…right now…its business!
If i am the 49ers I offer a contract based on the 10th slot selected. Each day Crabtree misses training camp means the less he will contribute this season. So, let the agent know that each day Crabtree holds out the contract offer will be reduced.
The money will take care of itself. Just get to camp. Missing out on an experience of a life time.
Mike Singletary: that should be all you need to get motivated to get to camp.
Good for the 49er’s organization for not giving in to this diva’s demands (so far). Hope they don’t give an inch.
Crabtree and his handlers should stick to their guns. His first contract will likely be his last, so he better make it count.
As a fan of the Bills, I know very well the damage that Eugene Parker can cause. He convinced Pro Bowl LT Jason Peters to hold out until the day before the start of the 2008 season and as a result, Peters played poorly for most of the year. This despite the fact that Peters had three years remaining on his already renegotiated contract. Rather than have the 2009 season ruined by another Peters hold out, the Bills were forced to trade him to the Eagles for less than should be expected for a Pro Bowl LT. Hopefully San Fran will let Crabtree miss the season, rather than giving in to ridiculous demands from Parker. The only way that teams will be able to prevent agents like Parker from ruining the game is by playing hardball!
Ha! What a diva/d-bag. DHB is signed and in camp. That pick looks better every day.
RAAAAAAIIIIDDDDEEERRRSSSSS!

He will be the last to sign in the first round.
So an injured foot kept Crabtree from going top 5 in the draft. I’m beginning to think he injured it by continually putting his foot in his mouth. Go on 49ers I dare you to not sign him at all. It will hurt in the short term but you will reap the rewards down the track.
It will be interesting to see how Singletary deals with this guy whenever he does join the team. He’s gonna break that diva!
Raiders fans are delusional idiots. Crabs could hold-out for half his career and still be 10 times the receiver. Oh yeah! DHB signed! He still can’t catch and is a walking hammy pull.
So it doesn’t look like Crabtree will be reporting to training camp anytime soon, barring some kind of major breakthrough in talks.
Crabfoot will end up being a marked man with a bullseye on his diva back. The secondaries in the NFL will shut this dude down like an average receiver.
Michael Craptree.
You named yourself “Mullester”.
Take it easy prison butt rape…Nobody cares what you think…..NOBODY.
All the time in the world to think of a name…
And that’s the scary great name you came up with….
Poorchoice… That should be your name.
Nobody cares what you think at this point..
Rollem up kids.
“delusional idiots”
We’re talking football….
With a name like that you’re talking life.
Step off Chief hot bottom.
“Mullester”….
I can’t stop laughing…. @ you.
I actually have to agree with Mullester. The only reason DBH was considered a 2nd round pick in the first place was because he was tall and fast. He was AVERAGE in college and there were plenty of wrs just a hair smaller or just a hair slower that had more memorable careers then he did.
Plus he looks like a smurf.
Al’s a genius.
@DanSnyder
Yeah I remember Desmond Howard too…Et al
Potential just means you havn’t done anything yet…
That’s all you have in college…Potential…
Some develope…
Most underachive.
Looking to DEVELOPE DHB.
INVAIDUH? and were comparing names, wow. Fact’s still remains DHB can’t catch and that seems to be prerequisite number one for a receiver any where outside of Oakland. I call you guys delusional because the league knows how senile Al Davis is and every act/signing and or draft pick their fans try to condone or except what he does.
He’s was drafted 10th for crying out loud.
What’s he want, Darius Heyward-Bey kind of money?
So you’re saying……
“Mullester”… If that is your real name….
“Prereqiusite Number one” is that a reciever
can’t catch….
It’s how you wrote it.
All that and stoopid too….Whew…
You’re really just setting a standard.
“comparing names”.
Yeah…
Which one is followed by an Amber Alert?
Go back and rethink.
You loafs better look up Tim brown.
Old enough to remember him?
This is undoubtedly agent driven. If his agent scores top 5 money for the #10 pick then he can market himself to next year’s draft class with that to wave before their noses.
Step off the NATION.
And if that’s the quote you’re looking to push down…..
You’re weak…And you know it.
RAIDER NATION…….GFY..
Being a Raiders fan seeing whats going on with Crabtree im getting happier every day. Yeah DHB singed and im happy for it because he said it himself “i know i aint got the best hand out there but thats why i signed because its important i get in here to camp and work to become a succesful wide reciever in this league” when Crabtree is trying to get paid more than a 5th round pick when he has proved nothing really and yes i know DHB hasn’t either but that’s not our fault that’s how the pay wage is scaled the higher you are drafter the more you will get paid. So yea for all of those Niner fans that said thanks for passing him in the draft dumbass Raiders well yeah you are welcome Niner fans go ahead and create another WR (T.O.) That does nothing but cry.
All I have to say about this ” ROOKIE SALARY CAP ” !!!! Enough is enough. These rookies have not done nothing to prove they are worth all the money they are asking for, Most are not. They get all that cash and what happens after the ink dries on the contract, Usually nothing good. NFL, get a rookie cap in place next year. We Jaguars fans have been bitten by a first round wide receiver diva one too, Anyone remember R.J. Soward ?? He was the biggest bust since Anna Nicole . Now I think he has a job where all he has to do is ask” You want fries with that ” ?
Your right having an intelligent conversation with you was a bad idea. Obviously you can’t read, or spell. Stoopid is spelled s-t-u-p-i-d, so I appreciate you, IVAIDUH, proving my first post correct. Also why can’t you seem to keep your weird posts to one instead of two pointless rants?
dont want this to be an excuse for a below average season. get him signed.
DHB is in camp and running routes
Crytree is SOFT!!
It’s funny how this guy was seating around the table on draft day laughing when the Raiders picked DHB, but now he want’s to be paid like DHB.
Most people had this guy pegged as a diva on Draft Day. Apparently, he is hell-bent on living up to the hype!

If Crabtree has a below average season, he has only himself (and his manager) to blame. Rookies can’t afford to miss camp if they expect to play football.
u have to wonder another Edwards,T.O.,Buress? puts the niners in a bad spot with what looks like another prima donna. I don’t know about the rest of you but i’m tired of this @#%#.
All I have to say about this is, this won’t be the last time that Crabs will hold out. Just wait ’til his rookie deal is near it’s end or hits the 3rd year.
Should be fun to watch for the next few years.
That is if he actually performs as a pro.
I have to agree with dlmcc0909. The NFL needs a rookie salary cap. There should also be a mandatory penalty for any rookie who holds out of camp.
Mullester, Pedophile, or whatever you like to go by, as of right now, none of us have anything to go on in this argument. This is the NFL, not the NCAA. What these guys did in the NCAA is now irrelevant at this point, now that training camps have started. None of us have any idea how these guys will pan out at the NFL level. Crabtree has bust written all over him just as much, if not more than DHB, so it’s time you and your fellow Crabtree brethren cut the crap. DHB has just as good a chance ot be as great as you dream Crabtree to be, so stop being such a sheep and buying itno the ESPN kool-aid about DHB. It’s pretty obvious you haven’t seen him play and really know nothing more than you’ve heard from the mediots about him.
Also, just to point it out to you, it’s the mediots who think Al Davis is crazy, not the NFL. Al has a lot of respect among his peers. Once again, your sheeply buying into the bias kool-aid of those who hate the Raiders. This pretty much proves you have no clout when comes to anything involving the Raiders. You are obviously a bias hater, so your opinions are uninformed and uneducated on the issues.
@ DanSnyder
Your facts are a little off. DHB was considered anywhere from a mid to low first rounder, and a high second rounder at worst. The Raiders didn’t reach as far as your trying to make it out to be.

thats one of the most -todd-ed statments I have ever seen on here.
the money he will will get with the 10 slot pay is more that 99% of people will ever see. Consdiering that my parents raised me in a pretty damn comfertable home on table scraps when compared to the money that this douche nugget would get at 10 if he just stopped acting like a moron and signed, I think that his family will be just fine.
Mullester starts of by calling Raider fans delusional idiots, then complains about not being able to have an intelligent conversation with one of them. Imagine.
Hayward-Bey wasn’t drafted to be an immediate starter. Maybe they drafted him too high and paid him too much, but he is in camp, and only time will tell if he turns out to be any good. Raider fans might be delusional, but they also have a lot of talented young skill players on their offense, and if you don’t recognize that, you’re the one with your head up your ass.
To Raider757: Both are not on the same level. Crabtree was predicted a top 5 pick DHB was a early 30′s pick. The reason the Raiders picks are slotted to be busts is they were reaches at their positions. You have no idea how much college football I watch and all you do is have to read your own sport writers he’s still doing the same things. He’s already dropped the ball repeatedly in training camp. He’s the same player in college he is now.
Now why the NFL hates Al Davis. Al Davis set to many standards in terms of in contracts. This means he over pays for players screwing every other franchise out there. Look at what the payed tommy kelly 50 million for below average NT. Javon Walker a 55 million deal for a receiver who can’t separate anymore and your beloved DHB was way overpaid even if you just looking at the slot he was. I can on but as I said you fans are delusional. So yes, most of the NFL hates him maybe not the players for doing all them a favor.
If any of us could accurately predict a WRs NFL performance post-draft, we’d be in the war-room next to Big Tuna on draft day. That said, I do hope DHB exceeds expectations and helps to reinforce the fact that getting signed in time to be in camp can only help your prospects.
I hope the 49rs don’t budge on this. Agents are getting worse every year with the ways they try and find loopholes in the system to get their clients overpaid. I also support rookie salary caps along with performance based incentives. Any player who is not in camp on time should fire their agent. A player’s top priority should be having the best rookie season possible, which doesn’t happen when you miss most of camp. Some players understand this. Obviously Crabtree does not.
The NFL doesn’t hate Davis because of the lame contracts he signs. They hate him because he doesn’t give a rat’s ass what they think. If it wasn’t for Crazy Al and Ralph Wilson and Lamar Hunt and others, the NFL would have slowly expanded to maybe 16 teams before everybody lost interest, and baseball would still be king. Al made some horrible decisions before the 08 season, and he has freely admitted it. He cut Wilson and Hall, and Walker’s $55M is now worth about 10% of that. Nobody cares how much college football you watch, Mullester. Everyone just wishes Crabtree’s gimpy foot would find a permanent home in your loud, empty mouth.
