Jason Babin has played outside linebacker and defensive end in the pros, but he hasn’t played either well enough to get a contract this offseason. At least until Tuesday.
The Eagles picked up the former Texans first-round pick on a one-year contract. Babin also played in Seattle and Kansas City in 2008.
While Babin started early in his career in Houston, he faces long odds to make the Eagles.
To help make room for Babin and Jeremy Maclin’s arrival, the Eagles released three players: DL Jervonte Jackson, CB Courtney Robinson and WR Marcus Thigpen.
I hope Babin dosn’t help the eagles at all. I hope the eagles suffer another injury today.

I assume this is a poor man’s insurance policy in case Abiamiri doesn’t come back at full strength or a delayed return.
Well……. if you could stuff Babin and Wilhelm into the same uniform and take a few years off them they might make for a decent back-up.
Of course, their careers could be extended with a little white-powder assistance provided by the coach’s kid.

As a die hard Texan fan, I’m almost embarrassed for the Eagles. I wouldn’t remove an extra box of notepad paper from my team to make room for Jason Babin.
Injuries happen, the Eagles seem to be on the way to filling the holes.
Sure, Bradely is a better MLB than Gaither, but it’s not new to Gaither. Mays isn’t better than either of them, but he has made some great plays and is a hard hitter in spot duty.
The Eagles will be just fine. We’ve played OG, Gocong and Spikes and did alright in ’07, and had Trotter, Dhani Jones and McCoy in ’06. Eagles have never relied upon using superior LB play to have a good defense. They try and pressure the QB and have an aggressive secondary.
I’m not saying it’s the best approach ever, or that Stewart isn’t a loss, just that the Eagles will roll on. There’s a reason they are fourth in wins this decade (92), regardless of postseason success.
