Vikings shopping Aundrae Allison

Agent Drew Rosenhaus has posted on his Twitter page an indication that the Minnesota Vikings are shopping receiver Aundrae Allison, and that they will cut him at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

That gives the Vikings little leverage, unless someone wants to acquire Allison’s contract.

Allison is under contract through 2010 at salaries of $460,000 this year and $550,000 next year.

Good. Had they thrown to him as much as Troy Williamson, he would have had as many or more drops.

Suprising. Jaymar and Reynaud must be outperforming him.
One thing is for sure, there are going to be a lot of burners in the WR corp this year.
What’s the over/under on when Dewey,Jimmy or Bob are on here bashing the Vikes?
I’m honestly suprised they haven’t already, it’s been 21 minutes!
    I say another 6 minutes tops……what jagoffs

Good Talent. Not Superstar, but #2 if needed for a few games, but more like a #3 or #4 WR. It’s too bad the Vikings don’t see this. Though, this coaching staff never has learned to use players to their strengths…..

    That’s exactly it.
Contrary to popular belief, the Vikings are very deep at WR right now. Allison is going to be the odd man out, as he’s getting beaten in training camp battles by the guys who used to be behind him on the depth chart.
However, Allison is a good reciever and he will end up signing on somewhere else. Not sure why Rosenhaus is trying to scuttle the Vikes’ chances of getting a trade done, but nevertheless, I predict he’ll sign with Seattle.

Viking fans are the worst. Eternally hopeful without reason…

  15. Reasonablevikefan says: Aug 4, 2009 11:39 AM

Allison has potential if he could just stop the offensive pass interference. It seemed like everytime he caught a ball last year it was called back for offensive pass interference.

    —————————–
Why would an agent want his client to be traded rather than hit free agency? It’s more attractive for prospective teams in that they only have to come up with a contract, not players/picks to trade. It’s more desirable for most players in that they some say in which team they sign with.
Having said that, this guy isn’t going to be a hot commodity in any sense of the term.. But I see why Rosenhaus would rather have the trade. Not to mention that he (Rosenhaus) gets paid if there’s a new contract.
Anyway, this is a pretty poor wide receiver corps. If this guy didn’t make the cut with the Vikings, what are the odds anyone’s “champing” at the bit to pick him up?

  18. Jon says: Aug 4, 2009 12:01 PM

Drew is announcing it so no one bites, then he can rework the deal with another team as a free agent which means he gets more commission.

  20. cliffcla says: Aug 4, 2009 12:05 PM

Why would they cut him? do they need to shrink the roster size? They still have room since no Favre showed up to take Charles Gordon’s spot. To me it just sounds like Rosenhaus is just trying to drum up support for his client. Allison is likey not going to make the Vikings this year with Harvin. And unless he can catch on with another team before the end of training camp he likely will not be playing anywhere this year. As a good agent Rosenhaus will try getting his player a team this year. That way ensuring the agent makes his money when the player gets a contract. Allison Is a fast and has good hands. He has a hard time running routes. He likes to improvise on too many plays. That has put him in the dog house to many times. But there is no question he can run and has glue for hands.

It just does not make sense to me. Why would you cut your team down one man shorter unless you have too. The Vikings are not going to do Alison a favor. Why do they need release him? Could be any number of reasons. Roster bonus on a certain date? Maybe they’re in the middle of talking to other veteran WRs and they want to free up a spot to sign them? Maybe he’s simply been outperformed by younger players. Or maybe it’s all a line from Drew Rosenhaus.

Wow, the guy caught 10 passes last year! How can the Vikings possibly survive without this guy? Better yet, which GM is so stupid as to actually trade for a guy with 10 catches? What, his waiver wire is broken?
That number is only one short of the number of fumbles that Peterson had in 2008 (lead the league in that category too) . So obviously the plan is to make up for the loss of productivity in cutting Allison, they will ask Peterson to simply hold on to the ball. At least to such a point in time that T Jack Off throws yet another INT.
Welcome Viking fans to Chilly’s 2009 version of a kick ass offense. Maybe someone should kick him in the ass……out the door.

Are you kidding me??? There are no such things here in Minnesota. Worst NFL fans by far. They won’t even fully support you when you win. How many other teams were faced with regular season blackouts when they were winning and then couldn’t even sellout their first home playoff game in 10 years??
In the past they would at least jump on the bandwagon when they were winning and pretend that they were rooting for them as HARDCORE fans all along. It isn’t even at that level anymore….

Let’s not forget that Goodell hamstrung the Packers (and sunk his trade value) last offseason by setting a date by which they had to deal with Favre. If that wasn’t a case of meddling with a team that owns a player’s rights I don’t know what is. Overall, I’ve been a supporter of Goodell, at least in his attempts to reign in player behavior, but his proclamation that the Packers had to do something with Favre by X date was out of bounds.
Anyway if the Vikings are really going to cut Allison, they were stupid to let Rosenhaus know. It’s in his and his client’s best interests not to get traded and instead hit the free agency market. I’d say they shot themselves in the foot if that’s the case.

whatthehellisgoingonoutthere, I was going to Viking games when you could walk up on game day, buy a ticket at the door, and sit in the lower deck ten yards from the field. In other words, I’ve been there through thick and thin.
The reason the Vikings fans didn’t bother to buy up tickets, drive several hours, and spend their whole day at a playoff game last year, was because the overwhelming majority of the fans attending games don’t think Tavaris Jackson can win any game, let alone against a hot playoff team. Yeah, I know the T-Joke blowhards will point out his game against Arizona, but to any objective person it’s obvious that 4 TD game was a fluke, as his numbers were not l that good other than his TD numbers. We knew then that the win and the TD’s were way over T-Joke’s ability, and that he would not and could not replicate that result again.

Boy for coming off a 6-10 season, these Pack fans sure have mouths on them.
Nobody has ever beaten the Packers, and if someone finishes ahead of them, it was luck, the refs gave them the game or some other such nonsense.
Do you realize how stupid you assholes sound?
What’s delusional about coming off a 10-6 season and taking the next step?
Delusional is coming off a 6-10 season, calling it an abberation and blaming everything under the sun for your teams record.
I forget tho, the average Packer fan has them penciled in for a 13-3 record every year.
How about your QB learns how to close out a game? The defense put them in that spot you say? He still has to perform, and he didn’t at all, what was he 0-7 trying to come back?
I agree with you norm, it’s like arguing with a child trying to talk to SOME people on this site, especially the 4 trolls of the apocalypse.

Viking fans delusional there Northland? Have you actually read the post strings from cheesers when Florio writes about the Pack? Do you have Pack season tickets jimicos? No, I don’t have season tickets. I live too far away to make a trip up to Green Bay 8 times a season and I’ve got a couple of kids to support.. Not enough money to spend on season tickets.

I cant believe that Viking fans are seriously calling Packer fans uneducated when Viking fans in all seriousness say they have a deep receiving core and that they have “burners,” for WR.
You HAD a burner on your team – his name was Moss and he’s no longer on your team.
Since then, you have nothing even close to a legitimate WR threat.
the Pack on the other hand has two guys playing backup that could instantly start for you: Jones and Nelson.
They must have spiked the purple kool-aid with some extra special stuff this year.
