Hackett finds a home

By our unofficial count, D.J. Hackett has worked out for seven teams this offseason.

He finally found one to bite.

The Redskins signed Hackett on Wednesday to replace Roydell Williams on the roster. Williams was waived/injured because he was going to miss a month of training camp with a broken left pinkie finger.

Hackett’s best days came with Jim Zorn in Seattle, where he averaged 64 yards-per-game in an injury-shortened season in 2007.  He posted 101 yards in a wild-card playoff win over Washington that season.

Hackett has struggled with injuries his whole career, but he has a decent chance to make the Redskins as a fifth receiver, if he stays healthy.

He’s a very serviceable WR for 5 games. But then after that say goodbye to him.

He has no chance to make the team with how Marko Mitchell and Marques Hagans have been playing… sorry DJ but this will be a short tenure as a Skin!

Sucks for Roydell Williams… I went to Tulane with him, lived on the same floor… Nice guy…pretty talented too. Hopefully he’ll get picked up when his pinkie gets healed…

D.J. (Buddy) Hackett should do fine with Zorn as the Head Coach.

Doesn’t play special teams, hard to hang on as a 5th like that.
