Harvin contract disapproved

Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the NFL has disapproved the contract signed earlier this week by Vikings receiver Percy Harvin, the 22nd overall pick in the draft.

Per Jensen, the team and Harvin’s agent, Joel Segal, will have an opportunity to revise the language to solve the problem.  Harvin presumably will continue to practice with the team.

It’s not clear at this point what the problem was or is.

Harvin’s five-year deal is worth $14.5 million, with guaranteed money in the range of $8.5 million.

I’m sure it had something to do with sick days.

I’m guessing the NFL thinks he deserves more money since the Vikings only good quarterback is temporarily sidelined.
And I’m glad Percy is getting more money than last year’s hack of a 22nd pick, Felix Jones.

Let me just drop this comment here, since there isn’t a current Vick posting to say this on.
Doesn’t Vick to the Packers make sense for the simple reason that the Packers don’t have the quintessential visible owner to take shots, like every other NFL team has?
Who’s the Packers owner that’s going to take shots in the public? The board of directors?

The Vikings have messed up making a draft pick, now they have messed up signing a draft pick, the Vikings are just trying to cover all grounds.

I’ll take a guess. Harvin and his team of agents worked in a “get hizzle errr dizzle” policy.
Too bad he can’t roll with my boy Chuck Rogers.

Didn’t the pats have this problem also? Florio – what are the teams trying to get away with that is different than before? Seems like this year more contracts have been ‘disapproved’.Or is this posturing for the new CBA negotiations? Or is there a clause in Harvin’s contract where he can only run zig-zag routes?

    @StartTarvaris
Are you just stupid? That comment didnt make any sense. Felix Jones will be a far superior player than Harvin. Who are you trying to kid?

I am pretty sure it is illegal to include incentives like “free bongs” and the cell phone number of the Minneapolis based weed supplier of Randy Moss as addendums to a NFL contract.
If the Vikings were smart (that train has already left the station a long, long time ago), they would require daily urine samples and combat pay tied to the number of times Col Klink talks nonsense which is also a daily occurrence.
As for me, I don’t self medicate with illegal drugs but I could see a strong potential to do so if I had to (1) live in the Trash Cities (2) play in the Dumptydome (3) listen to Village Idiot pontificate on a daily basis.

hmmmm happened to the Pats and now Vikes. At least we have our pick signed. Go get your fat guy from BC signed before he starts smoking the chronic again while waiting for a contract. At least now if Percy is smoking it should be while bonding with teammates haha

Pretty sure JIMMY SMITH got busted for pot. . . and coke. . . and drunk driving, and is the worst player to come out the slums of Detroit. Hey Jimmy, why don’t you take your ass back to washing car windows and slanging $5 cds from your trunk you washup

How can you say felix is better than Percy and he hasn’t played a game yet? This is coming from a cowboys fan. I don’t see where the justification for that ciomment lies. They are both great athletes, but Percy clearly had the better college career, and can do everything Felix can do and more. Just wait and all you Harvin haters will jump right on his bandwagon soon enough. Just think Eddie Royal and DeSean Jackson, plus 15-20 lbs and a mean streak

There’s an issue over the clause that allows him to choke his WR coach and not get cut.

Jimmy Smith guy is a HOMO
Felix Jones vs. Percy Harvin – i think time will tell – anyone who knows either way right now is a homer one way or the other

It would be even funnier if the dude got hurt while playing under an invalid contract…
Thats what you get when your owner is only in town for 20 some days a year…
    Enjoy your L.A. Vikings….

The revoked contractual language was a clause inserted by Segal which ensured Harvin wouldn’t have to spend more than 48 hours in Wisconsin during the annual Lambeau trip. While the NFL understands that spending more than 48 hours near Green Bay or rooting for the Pack results in rapid intelligence loss, over consumption of alcohol, wieght gain and the inexplicable desire to wear polyester, such contractual language is just not permitted.
And did anyone listen to TT’s presser yesterday when he talked about Vick? Geez, the guy sounds dumber than he looks, and looks as dumb as the decisions he makes.

@JimmySmith, while I take offense with referring to my home as the Trash Cities, since it is a very nice place to live, I do concur with point 2 and 3.
It’s a big enough city that you’d think it would have large and real fan base, but it doesn’t. It’s even harder to find a fan who lives in reality, rather than the overly delusional optimistic fans like you see posting on PFT. To be honest, it’s almost surreal.
There are very few “real” fans here, but when you find one that proclaims to be, they talk so much premature nonsense about their prospects next season with and how they will take them to the promise land before they ever even step out on the field. It doesn’t even matter if it’s a scrub like Bernard Berrian. They will talk him up to be the next Randy Moss because “now he has a real QB throwing him the ball”. See how delusional they can be??? LOL

Apparently you’re the dumb one Badger. Addendums are something added or supplemental, you know like incentives added to a contract. In Percy’s case, it’s probably something like a certain amount of $$$ for not testing positive for smoking reefer or getting busted for a prosthetic penis when doing his drug tests. Hey- they gotta cover all the bases with a guy too stupid to show up at the combine with weed in his system….
