A day after losing receiver Harry Douglas for the season, the Falcons signed veteran wideout Robert Ferguson to a new contract, according to the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
While the Falcons were plugging one hole, another leak emerged. Safety William Moore, the team’s second round pick, will miss 1-4 weeks after having a “procedure” on his left knee.Moore will be back, but Douglas’ season-long absence means that Ferguson has a good chance to make the team.
After Roddy White, Michael Jenkins, and Brian Finneran, the Falcons don’t have much else at wide receiver. Ferguson was a productive special teamer in Green Bay and Minnesota.
White continues to hold out, and ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Thursday that Douglas’ injury won’t have any effect on White’s negotiations.
Watching a few preseason games with this receiver group might.
