Take the Colts off the Vick watch list

With former Colts coach Tony Dungy serving as an adviser and mentor to quarterback Mike Vick, and with Dungy telling Dan Patrick last month that he’d be interested in signing Vick if Dungy was with a team that needed a quarterback, some have speculated that Vick might end up with the Colts and Dungy’s successor, Jim Caldwell.

At this point, it’s not likely to happen.

Our quarterback situation is great right now,” Caldwell told Don Banks of SI.com.  “He’s a
talented guy, and I know he’ll find a home somewhere.  One thing you
know, he’s in good hands with Tony.  I think you’re going to see Tony
can really help Mike in terms of the direction of his life, and it’s
going to be a very positive thing for Mike.”

So barring a torn ACL or other serious injury to any of the guys on the team’s quarterback depth chart, Vick won’t be wearing a horseshoe on his helmet in 2009.

I can not even fathom the idea/visual of Vick wearing a horseshoe. That would just be odd. Falcons’ attire fits him best. Gangsta! Woot Woot!

When were the Colts ever on that list?

The Colts have the best QB in the league (arguably) why would they want an idiot distracting them with off the field turmoil.
Go play for the UFL Vick, prove you can still play, hell, prove you can run a team and maybe more people will be interested.

I guess Tony Sanctimony couldn’t even sell the idea of this soul-less slimebag to his own former subordinates.
(Then again, aren’t we ALL St. Dunghole’s “subordinates” in one way or another, at least morally?)

with pre season 1 week away from being in full swing it seems like the only “pro” teams that may actually be interested come from the league that is currently headlined by J.P.Losman

Dewey, is there anything you like in life? At all?
And don’t say “I like the Vikings failures” or anything along those lines.

Michael Vick should play for the Minnesota Vikings! They need a great quarterback . . .Vick can do the trick!

Bill Polian said this about 4 days ago on NFL network Mike. If you weren’t so busy worrying about T.O.’s ratings, then maybe you would’ve have been up to speed.

Because Philly thug Marvin Harrison shooting 2 people fits the horseshoe better?

Ha ha, jealous much? I have tremendous respect for Tony and all he’s accomplished in his career and while I’m no Vick fan, I trust Tony’s judgement in this situation.
Why all the hatred for one of the most respected men in all of professional sports?

Well Dewey, I like a few of those things on your list, and I do agree, Vick is a thug who shouldn’t touch an NFL football again. He was never good to begin with.
Perhaps Vikings and Bears fans CAN coexist.

    @Amish,
Used to feel the way. Then Dungy did a couple things in a very short matter of time, and now I feel the opposite:
He left football. But joined the MEDIA.
He questions Cutler. But supports Vick.
It’s also become increasingly clear to me, through many of his actions/comments, that Dungy is not just about helping young men with their lives, but about helping young BLACK men.
Do good work–fine–but take off the racially tinted eyeglasses first, okay?

  16. AmishGangsta says: Aug 6, 2009 6:27 PM

Dewey-while i respect your opinion, i think you are entirely wrong about Dungy helping only african americans…he supports MANY orginizations that do good work for ALL people, not just black people, including the American Diabetic Association and Basket Of Hope, an orginization that provides baskets of goods to sick children. Do some research, see for yourself. The man is a tireless worker for ALL humanity….

maybe dungy could clean up his son’s racist myspace page…
