Dawkins undergoes surgery on hand

Broncos safety Brian Dawkins has a broken hand that required surgery, according to the Denver Post, which credits several team sources.

The information hasn’t been disclosed publicly because, well, Josh McDaniels is adhering to the “all injuries are equal until they cause you to hit injured reserve” script mastered by his mentor Bill Belichick.

When a coach from the Parcells/Belichick tree get a new coaching job, it’s always interesting to watch the friction between the coaching staff and media as the scribes get accustomed to the new rules.

Earlier Thursday, multiple teammates of Dawkins said that his injury was “sad,” indicating that it may be more than a day-to-day scenario.

That’s another sign of a nascent Belichick pupil team.  In New England, the players would be trained well enough to stay tight lipped.

Dawkins is expected to return in two weeks, so the injury isn’t a major concern.

of course this happens when he leaves the eagles. The dude played every game for the stinkin eagles. Ever notice that when th eeagles play the best player on the other team is always injured.

    “Nascent”, huh?
I LIKE it…it presupposes that the majority of your audience is fundamentally literate.
(And you weren’t a condescending, supercilious prick about it, either…like some other egomaniacal writer who recently issued the dismissive, arrogant imperative to the readers to “look it up…”)
Now, if only the players had learned to be a bit more “taciturn”…

I hate the Eagles but I have always loved watching Brian Dawkins knock sukka’s out. The Eagles shouldn’t have let him go, he was the leader of that defense. Oh well I hope he’s back on the field soon, the Broncos defense can’t afford to lose anyone.

Dawk just needs to quit Denver and move back to Philly.
    Who loves ya Baby??!!!

    Dawk is dead to me

Philly didn’t let Dawk go, Denver threw a ton of bread at him… the birds couldn’t match that money. Dawk didn’t want to leave, and Philadelphia definately wanted him to stay, (but dumb Denver has done great since losing Shanahan… QB?) Anyway I heard that when Dawkins broke his hand, the bone came out a little and he was still bleeding GREEN…. Dawk is forever an Eagle!!!

Dawkins missed most of the year before last with a neck problem. He did not play every game for the Eagles. Last year he was slow and had problems in coverage. If Andy Reid lets a veteran go elsewhere the guy is usually done. Denver should just make Dawk a coach if they want inspiration in the locker room.

Crooked Steve, who was injured when the Eagles beat the Cowboys the last game or the Vikings in the playoffs. I know that Osi was injured…

It was Felix Jones, Smush. He would have single-handedly scored 38 points on us, if only it wasn’t for those injuries!
    Hahaha, 44-6, Romo faints.

That is not true, the truth is that the Eagles won’t pay a player over 30 that kind of money, because chances are he’s going to get hurt (case in point).
I love B-Dawk, but there’s no way the birds were giving him that kind of coin. Every year the Eagles are one of THE BEST teams when it comes to salary cap spending, and these tough decisions are the reason why.
Hope Dawk gets better and reaks havoc on those AFC West wanna be QB’s!
Also Crooked Steve – Dawk has been injured plenty – he missed most of the season 2 yrs ago with a neck issue.

Lurie said that no Eagle will wear #20 again… and deservedly so. I can’t wait for the jersey retirement. Philly will always embrace Dawk; and he will surely get inducted to the HOF in midnight green. Don’t be surprised if the stands are a little more orange than usual on December 27th.
Rumor on the streets is that crookedsteve is the Reid boys’ former (and now out of work) drug dealer… hence the excess of time to insufferably bash Big Red & Co.
