The Lions brought back most of their offensive line from their 0-16 season, including backup offensive tackle Damion Cook.
Cook was a starter for a while last year, but he won't take any snaps in 2009, coach Jim Schawtz announced Friday.
Cook will undergo season-ending surgery after tearing his triceps Thursday. He's already been placed on injured reserve.
It shouldn't be a major loss for Detroit; Cook was battling just to make the team.
The Lions replaced him on the roster with wideout Bobby Sippio, just one of the stars from Hard Knocks with the Kansas City Chiefs two years ago.

I would say that Stewart Bradley is a bigger loss than this.
My condolences to Cook for his injury and my congrats to Sippio for securing a paying job in this economy, but this makes a difference to anybody else how?
they can go 0-15-1 with or without him.
I'm not going to pretend I have "sources"
But, I'm pretty sure Damion Cook was penciled in to start at Left Guard. The only danger he faced is a push from Manny Ramirez (which isn't far-fetched). Cook plays multiple positions though, making him a decent option as a backup.
"...battling just to make the team."
Disagree
"...shouldn't be a major loss..."
Agreed
head line might as well say "lions lose dead weight for season"
could be a blessing in disguise.
I like Sippio but he just doesn't have NFL speed. He couldn't make the field as a Chief when they hade basically no WR2 and 3 during his time with the Chiefs.
"Lions lose Cook for season"
that kind of suck for them....looks like they need to find a good catering service for this season

You should get some sources. Cook had no shot to start this year. Daniel Loper is the starting LG.
Bobby Sippio was voted "Iron Man" for something like six straight weeks about five years ago when he played for the Greensboro Prowlers AFL2 team.
He was magic.
He was also an extrememly Nice person, who willfully and eagerly signed autographs and posed for photos with fans after every game.
Go Bobby!
