Roethlisberger gets more time to respond to suit

All has been relatively quiet on the Ben Roethlisberger legal front of late, with both sides clamming up and little moving forward in the process.

It looks like it will stay quiet for a few more weeks.

Calvin Dunlap, the attorney for Ben Roethlisberger’s accuser, has given Roethlisberger’s attorneys more time to file their response to the lawsuit. They now have until August 21, according to the Associated Press.

It was also learned Friday that two of the other defendants in the case have filed motions to move the case 50 miles south from Reno, to Minden in Douglas County.

Roethlisberger’s accuser also named many Harrah’s employees as part of the suit.

ANDREA MCNULTY!!!!! Hey Florio, wouldn’t it be fair not to use EITHER parties name until they decide who is the innocent victim here? This is a CIVIL case and her name is ANDREA MCNULTY!!!
Don’t over cover this CIVIL suit unless you equally drag both peoples names through the mud.

Maybe those guys have a rep in Reno or something.

JPeezy, anyone with a functioning brain can see that Florio has an agenda with this case.
Having said that, her name has been mentioned many times and Ben is a public figure…not really unusual.

  8. danlinker says: Aug 7, 2009 11:25 PM

Here;s why they want it moved out of town; It’s called a change of venue. Florio and his guys know that. It is an effort to get an unbiased jury selection pool. Or at least they hope for that. That usually indicates that they expect it may go to trial. This will be good.
The naming of Harrah’s employees in the suit is also another piling on method. Harrah’s certainly has a massive liability policy that the plaintiffs hope to exploit. The reasoning being here, that if the accusers attack enough deep pockets, that most or all of them will choose to settle vs take it to court. Economically speaking, this is by far the smartest move for those named in the suit. Costs to defend something like this can be quite excessive. This also saves on negative publicity and the potential losses that can occur from that.
    That said…..go Cards

You’re right, JPeezy. We’ll just refer to her as “The Harrah’s Employee” and him as “The Steelers Starting Quarterback”. That should keep things nice and anonymous.

The only thing Ben Roethlisberger raped was the Arizona Cardinals defense in the Superbowl.

  11. Bob Nelson says: Aug 8, 2009 12:04 AM

Moving the case out of the urban environment (Reno 911) to a more wholesome American venue will only produce a better jury pool and a better outcome.

Why no comment on the content of the other defendent’s affidavits? For instance, one other well reputed site *coughs* is reporting:
“A former coworker of Andrea McNulty, who has filed a civil suit against Ben Roethlisberger for alleged sexual assault, said the woman bragged about having been with the Steelers quarterback. In an affidavit filed Friday, former Harrah’s employee Angela Antonetti said that Andrea McNulty never seemed “upset, stressed out or nervous” about what happened.
Later, Antonetti said McNulty told her she thought she might be pregnant by Roethlisberger and talked about going to Pittsburgh to try to “run into” him. ”
But reporting such info might be interpreted as biased, now wouldn’t it?

You’re right. Big Ben wins the games for the steelers. They have won two SB’s in spite of him, not because of him. Check the stats. It’s the D in PA. And I respect them big time. The hardcore Steelers fans will admit that. And why not, Their D was the best. RIP D.L.
The Steelers D took us out in AZ, not Ben.

I don’t know what you were watching in the Superbowl, but I remember the Steelers D allowing 300+ yards to Warner and company.
Big Ben threw all over that horrible D that nobody in the NFC could beat in the playoffs. Only reason why it was close is because of terrible backs (Willie Parker is done) that can’t punch it in inside the 1 yard line.

    Re, steelymcDUI
I was wondering that myself but since Florio, and half the idiots that post here, have already declared Ben guilty…little bits of info like that dont matter.
    This place is a joke.

Yeah, I remember it clearly when the Steelers D threw that perfect pass to Holmes in the corner of the endzone to win the game.

danlinker must have been watching the porn that was accidently broadcast that day because I the Steelers D letting Fitz run all over the field and Ben and the offense coming back to win the game.
Fitz is awesome……… I wish he wore the black and gold.

They certainly won XL in spite of him, no argument there. Even Roethlisberger himself says the same thing.
For XLIII, the D was responsible for a huge 14-point swing at the end of the first half. The D kept a great offense in check for much of the game. I don’t mean to undermine what they did, but when it mattered most, the D allowed a 64 yard TD on a simple post route which left the Steelers in a 23-20 hole with under three minutes left.
It was the offense that had to come from behind late in the game in dramatic fashion and ended up scoring a go ahead TD with under a minute left. Had it not been for that great drive, AZ hoists that trophy. Had it not been for that drive, AZ would have completed the largest comeback in SB history. It makes it hard to simply say “the D took AZ out.”

    @ danlinker-
Bet you didn’t know that in Ben’s 2 Super Bowl winning runs (7 games; only 2 @ home) his avg. passer rating is SUPERIOR to that of ShadyBrady in his 3 Super Bowl winning runs (9 games; only 1 on the road), even with TommyBoy’s advantage of having the defensive signals transmitted into his helmet as he breaks the huddle…yes, that even includes Ben’s game winning stats in SBXL!
How could you when you didn’t even know that SBXLIII was played in FLA, not AZ…TOOL!!!

Another athelete who can’t figure it out. How long can it take to build a defense for something you didnt do? “She did not come into my room, we did not have sex, I am innocent”
Oh wait, maybe the reason is, she did come into his room, something did happen and he needs to find a way to make himself look like the victim here.

  24. SixBurghDude says: Aug 8, 2009 1:22 PM

The numbers don’t lie…avg. passer rating for Ben in the 7 games (only 2 @ home) during his 2 Super Bowl winning runs (yes, including the dismal numbers posted in SBXL) vs. TommyBoy in the 9 games (only 1 on the road) during his 3 Super Bowl winning runs:
    Ben Roethlisberger…95.4
    Tom Brady……………..91.5
However, Brady is superior at dumping the girl that spawns his BASTARD, while she’s still pregnant, no less!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y88yirhXOBk
see how ShadyBrady WILTS when faced with the type of pressure Ben Roethlisberger has had to endure thru-out the majority of his career, yet all Ben does is set records for WINS…best one is at the end of SBXLII, with the game on the line, fellow PSU alum Jay Alford up the gut with a facemask full of Brady’s scrawny chest…LMMFAO!
Btw Patsy fans; the next 4th Qtr. game winning TD drive that Brady engineers in a Super Bowl will be his 1st!!!

Or, maybe it has something to do with the fact that they have a witness on their (the defendants) side who just signed her affidavit yesterday.

    Defendants witnesses = 1
    McNulty witnesses = still 0
