Raiders coach Tom Cable said Saturday that Javon Walker was “at least” 10-14 days from returning to the practice field.
Walker is recovering from a secret surgery that he underwent in April, which Cable now admits was a “major” procedure. Whatever the operation was, it’s apparently working.
According to the Oakland Tribune, Walker looks “faster and stronger” while working out on the side of Raiders practice than any time since he joined the team.
Last year’s free agent bust hasn’t truly hasn’t looked like a quality NFL starter since he re-injured his knee in Week Three of 2007 while he was a member of the Broncos.
Cable’s timeline makes Walker unlikely to play in the first few preseason games, but it doesn’t sound like they plan to stash him on reserve/PUP list for the beginning of the season.
Since his base salary is guaranteed, Walker shouldn’t be at risk of getting cut.
Another 4-12 season is coming Raider fan.
Yvonne Walker is going to surprise a lot of people this year.
His knee is better and he has been seen running hurdles at full speed around the track (Jerry McDonald Inside Bay Area Sports writer) fast as he as ever sen him run.
Some good news may finally come the Raiders way if this guy can put together a couple of good seasons.
Daddy Al has already given this guy about 15Mil the least he could do is show us one or two decent seasons.
As a Raider fan who reads daily blogs from bay area reporters attending camp, he is running and jumping and cutting and catching very well according to them. I agree with leaving him on PUP for now, he’s going to be on the team either way, let the rookies show what they have as they battle for roster spots.
Does leaving a player on PUP not count against the 80 man roster?
Break a leg Javon.
Good thing the Raiders have enough quality recievers so if Javon doesent come back strong this year it’s not really a big deal. Even if he was healthy it’s no guarantee he was going to be the #2 anyway. Chaz is a beast !
i see them doing a little better than that if they play garcia.
Start earning you’re pay- check, YaVonne
Poor Javon…
He went on and on how he was going to go the Super Bowl when he left Green Bay and his career did nothing but spiral right down the sh!tter ever since. God I love karma.
SHHH….It’s the RaiDUH”S….Unless your willing to be labeled a Hater, don’t mention the fact that in the last 6 years they are 24-72, don’t mention the fact they have had 5 top ten draft pics in the last 6 years,or that their owner still thinks it’s 1977,or how Tom “The Cable Guy” somehow got the HC position, just mention that they drafted Howie Long in the 48th spot way back when and it was pure genius……They don’t call it a black hole for nothing.
Major surgery? Heart or spine, most likely. Still, if he’s healthy and doesn’t act like a bitch he could be a huge help this season. Every defense they face is going to cheat up unless Russell can make some plays.
I think they can do better than 4-12, though, even with the NFC East on the schedule.
Javon Walker has a vagina where his penis should be.
EskinSux,
Really that’s the best you could come up with. You know next time you sit your fat a$$ down to watch a NFL game maybe you should show a little more respect to your elders. I would love to see how together you have it when you turn Al’s age. I wonder how your NFL team that you own will be doing. Yea he is not as sharp as he once was but what 80 year old is? When you purchase your NFL franchise and become insturmental in merging 2 leagues together now known as the NFL. And you win 3 Super Bowls, And when you become an owner who hired the first African American coach, The First Hispanic coach, The first female executive. When you enshrine 6 players into the NFL Hall Of Fame And when you enter the NFL Hall Of Fame please let us all know. Al does it his way, always has and he dont give a crap what you think about it. When you build a team from nothing and it’s your whole life and you give every part of your being to that team for the last 50 years lets see how easy you let go of it. And yea he does things to make you scratch you head sometimes but for what that man has done for this sport is huge. So like i said next time you sit your fat a$$ down to watch a NFL game remember who had a big hand in it. And show a little respect. And please think of comments on your own and stop repeating the same crap you read over and over again.
Blah blah blah……He’s a businessman right?……Hell, i hope to be dead by his age then making a laughing stock of myself……You raider fans CRACK ME UP, you think he cares about you?…..For real, wasn’t he the first to institute the extortion that is a PSL, wasn’t he the one who moved his team back and forth back and forth, to further line his pockets, didn’t he sue the corporation that is the NFL so many times one couldn’t keep track? Next time you sit your FAT ass down, i hope the team you root for is in the city you live, cause if it was up to Al Davis, it’s where he could make the most money…….Idiot…..
Shake an Bake very well said! Rock on RAIDERS! Sounds like someone needs a Hug? ESKIN? Poor child. So many negative vibes. Why the name calling? Still in grade school? GO TO YOUR ROOM! Think about what you did. Now apologize. Dont you feel better? Must be a Denver fan. So much anger.
Commitment to Excrement. Lol @ the “Respect Al Davis” lecture above. I am very thankful for the NFL but the raiders are the taint of the NFL. That part between your ass and your nuts that is all but useless.
They will never be worth talking about until Al Davis gives up control to people who know modern day football.
Then why are you talking about them .. O bald fat one?
Raiders fans are like wind-up toys. It’s awesome. Someone call Al Davis old again, we can get this to 80 comments.
Raider fans don’t think Davis cares about them. Maybe a few do, but it’s no different than the losers that think they have a personal relationship with singers, actors, and other celebrities. I don’t know which team Eskinsux follows, but he doesn’t spend any time talking about them, so he’s probably a fan of some team like San Diego or Philly. Fans of those teams seemed to be obsessed with The Raiders in general and Al Davis in particular. Eskinsux is an illiterate needle-dick with an inferiority complex, and BigBaldPapaHawk wants to be like him when he grows up.
Brett Favre made this guy. I hate to say it (being a Brett Favre hater), but Favre made a lot of mediocre receivers look very good in Green Bay. Javon had a breakout year in 2004-5, and then wanted to renegotiate his contract (even though he had several years left) because he “outperformed” it. He had one good year, tried to pull that crap, tore his acl and has been NOTHING ever since. He went about it the wrong way. A guy like Greg Jennings in Green Bay, shut his mouth, performed at a high level and the Packers took care of him (got a phat contract before his years were up). I hate to wish ill will on anyone, but Javon has pretty much gotten what he deserves…
EskinSux Who is your team lets see what we can dig up on your owner. Im not saying he is perfect but he has done alot more with his life than you could ever dream of. So yea maybe you do need a hug and maybe you should go to your room. And if you want to talk this out grow some nuts you can find me in Sec 237 on Sundays. But i know you never would cause all you do is regurgitate thae same crap you hear everyone else say time and time again. ” oh another Raider post let me say something i heard 200 other people say but it will be funnier coming from me” For all of you who hate the Raiders and always write “who cares what they are doing you sure do look at everything that’s going on with them.
We are Raider fans and we lover our team and we will stick by our team no matter what! Unlike you that would probably leave the first time your owner tries to make a buck off you.

Cool… Now let’s see what he can do in a real game this year?
@BigBaldPapaHawk
umm…… Ithink everyone knows what and where taint is.
And it ain’t exactly useless.
neither is Al Davis for that matter.
And perhaps Javon has some talent left, which is not exactly “useless.”
Are they able to put a winning team on the field?
To be seen this season.
Calm down dude!
lmao.
javon needs an all star qb to make him look good.
it wont work the other way around.
walker had his best season with favre. he must think favre is coming to oakland.
Green Bay’s receivers did pretty well without Favre last season. Rodgers threw for almost as many yards as Favre did in ’07. I wouldn’t give Favre too much credit for lifting up mediocre receivers.
Amen, shake&bake.
