We’ve been saying for the past few weeks that the connection between Twitter and the NFL will get very interesting once the football season starts.
Before and after games, we can expect players to tweet all sorts of intiguing stuff, especially as some of them try to process the raw emotions of an agonizing defeat.
And so it makes sense that, as the first official unofficial game of the 2009 season approaches, some of the participants have taken to Twitter.
That said, their commens aren’t yet in midseason form, either.
Bills linebacker Kawika Mitchell, upon boarding the team bus, said that he’s “[g]ettin ready to depart and carry out ‘Mission Beat the ish out of the Titans.’”
But at least Mitchell made it onto the bus. Titans running back Chris Johnson claims that he missed the bus taking his teammates to Fawcett Stadium in Canton.
“Me and [Lendale White] got left by the bus so we will be gettin to the game late,” Johnson tweeted.
Johnson took responsibility for missing the bus in a subsequent tweet: “Its my fault we got left I was shinning my teeth with my gold rags I got to look good for the show.”
We assume Johnson is kidding, and that his words are simply part of the show before the show.
Good lord, shining my teeth?? How much more ghetto can you get!! I’ve heard ignorant statements before but that one pretty much takes the cake!
How is that statement ignorant or ghetto? I never knew that people in the ghetto could afford to buy gold/platinum grills. You’re smart. Think before you type, idiot.
gotta keepz doze teefs shiny
I f-ing love the NFL -
The en-f-el – on twitter – a good thing
Unplugged – The NFL is lip syncing – The players are dancing in the endzone….
The players are real – The corporate white slave owners are the DEVIL.
For God’s sake, people. Stop using the word “ignorant” as if it is synonymous with “stupid,” “rude,” or “ghetto.”
Ignorant means lacking information. Exactly how does Chris Johnson’s claim that he is shining his teeth demonstrate that he is lacking information?
Call him an idiot. Call him ghetto. Call him childish. Stop using “ignorant” as a catch-all insult to describe all undesirable behaviors.
I know, shinin yo teeth with rags is ghetto! He need a electric floor buffer like I got to get that grill sparkling.
OGOchoCinco
Kind of Ironic when you think they both will be twittering from home when the first week of playoff games are played…….
Didn’t OchoStinko start the teeth shining thing along time ago?

Really? First of all I think everyone pretty much new what he was trying to say. And if you have ever driven through a ghetto anywhere in this country I’m sure you’ve seen Escalades, Lexus’ and Benz’s. How they got them may be questioned but they still have them.
Grills don’t impress anyone outside the ghetto. Yes, 100% ghetto.

So the next time I see anyone getting their Escalade, Lexus, or Benz washed, or shining their rims, I’m going to refer to them as being ghetto and ignorant.
And supermex, you’re right. People do have a lot of things you wouldn’t think they could afford because of where they live.
